Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 11 to 20 of 87    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov
Wednesday, February 24, 2016
Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Fair to good on snowmaking loop. Good classic grooves about 1/2 the time.
Still plenty of snow on the man made loop. Careful on the tubing and snowboarding downhills the bottom has rutts from snow plowing.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Super-slush, slow.
Skied around 1:30 pm, found some of the slushiest man-made snow conditions I've ever skied it. Nearly the entire course was soft and slow. Just really saturated conditions -- and not exactly unexpected at 38F, but had hoped it would have been a little firmer. No fault of the groomers, just need to get out earlier (or later) in the day to ski.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good grooming for classic and skate.
Did two classic loops on man-made trail. Can't complain! Hopefully the sun stays behind the clouds. Little bit of dirt mixed in snow but encountered very few bare spots. Good job, Groomers!

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Groomed and tracked.
The man made loop was groomed this morning and classic tracks set. Most icy areas were groomed out this morning but some thin areas with ice underneath are out there. Trail took a beating this weekend with the warm temps. Please be careful on the downhills as they are fast! All natural snow trails remain closed.

Grooming Scheduling
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Natural Snow trails Closed, Man Made still open until further notice!
Due to lack of snow, ice, and slushy conditions all natural snow trails at Wirth, Eloise Butler, Bog, Chain of Lakes, and golf courses are closed until we have more snow. There are many icy areas that could be dangerous, please stay off. The man made loop will be day to day with the weather and snow conditions. The down hills are very icy. We will groom in the overnight hours to try and preserve snow.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Snowmaking loop freshly groomed.
Kudos to groomers. The snow was a little slower today, but other than that it was great on the man-made loop.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Mixed of very good and scattered icy, thin spots.
Skied most of the trails at Wirth around lunchtime. About 90% of the trail system is quite good, with enough tilled up snow to provide a good surface for skating. There are scattered icy sections, and some with a fair amount of dirt/ice. I'd recommend B skis, unless you are skiing the snowmaking and Twin Lakes sections -- those are probably the best areas as of this afternoon.

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Skied The Bog trail tonight and more a touring ski. Good in places but any uphill the snow is shallow so you're skidding on your edge on the frim/icy base. One bare spot you have to move around, and some other debris in trail. Groomers did a good job, just need more snow.

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Manmade loop groomed this morning, as well as twin lake, judy loop, skyline, wirth lake, Eloise butler, and quaking bog trails.
Incorporated new snow (what there was of it) - mostly good condition with the exception of some steep hills, icy areas, and dirt spots. Happy skiing!
