The groomers must be taking a holiday break from grooming. Icy boilerplate. Skiable but not much fun.

Pretty disappointing, based on previous reviews like "best trails in town" maybe expectations were too high (was that was the trail layout not the grooming?), skate lane was hard as a rock. The skier with me (skating) had a really hard time with it (white knuckle experience). I skied classic in the tracks and they were OK for skins anyway. Lots of snow has been made, and is being made, so hopefully it will get better but if you need conditions that allow some edging, are planning a long ski, or are not a super expert I'd go elsewhere (hint: Three Rivers).

The 3.5 km artificial snow loop is in almost perfect condition. The only defect is a few small patches on the downhill corners where it was getting scraped down to the hard icy under layer. Race skis are fine. Classic track is in good shape. The terrain is amazing on this loop. Best course in town in my opinion.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
We have a total of 3.5k of snowmaking trails groomed for classic and skate. Access the trail from the Wirth Chalet.
We have about 8.4k of natural snow trails groomed for skate only. The groomed trails are: Judy, Bridge Trail, Skyline, Tornado Alley and JD Rivers. The snow depth is not sufficient for setting classic tracks at this time. Rock skis recommended for natural snow trails.

The snowmaking loop is now open down to what was the turnaround near the start on multi-lap races -- about 3k, maybe a bit more. Skate deck has been refreshed throughout and is hard. Classic tracks are crisply cut. With the new snowmaking equipment and crew, Wirth is now by far the best loop in town. Guns are going hard on the new meadow loop as well. It looks like we'll have 6k+ soon.

Skijor Trails: Skijored the Skyline Front 9 and then walked under Hwy 55 to ski the JD Rivers section. Found about 8k of skiable trails. Rough and icy with some bare grass and pavement, but mostly workable. Trails are rolled or packed. Not great for skiing, but workable for skijor.

Best conditions of the season on the man-made loop at 6:15am this morning! As others have reported, the expanded loop is a really nice mix of ups and downs and gentle turns. I saw 3-4 snowguns going full bore so I am anxious for the next loop to open.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
We have a total of 2.5k of snowmaking trails groomed for classic and skate. LaSquadra loop, Ridgeline to Coaches Corner and Trail 18 are open and we continue to work at making snow on the rest of Ridgeline and the east half of Green Meadow Loop and plan to open 1 more kilometer soon. See snowmaking trail map.
See north Wirth trail map.

Confirming the new manmade loop is primo - great variation of terrain, flows well, and rewards pushing hard over the tops of hills. Nice change of hamster wheel. Snow was in excellent shape before the new stuff fell; very even grooming and only one small strip of rocks/dirt to watch out for going up the tubing hill. My GPS had it at 2.1 km.

Much larger portion of the snowmaking loop now open, and features some of the new segments. Wow, so much better flow to the trails, really fun! Snow was very good and fast still around noon. Tried the natural snow, which was groomed, north of the snowmaking loop. Much of it was pretty good, but definitely rock skis (some hills have a fair amount of exposed material).
