Rough! Thank goodness for the work the Waukesha County Park crews do earlier in the year spreading wood chips on the trails before the first snow. The wood chips protected the skis today in many exposed areas along the trail. The groomers did their best under less than optimum conditions. No track set, but compact and groomed. I was able to ski along the outside groomed areas in the areas that were the most challenging. Surprisingly the trail that cuts through the open prairie area on the north side of the park offered some of the better snow.

The trails were groomed this morning after another dusting of snow last night. The classic tracks were not set and the trails were not firm. The trails had 1-3" of base throughout the system with some leaves and wood chips exposed in many locations. It was good ski this morning and didn't see another skier on the yellow loop.

Trails were groomed but tracks were not set. I saw a small part of the trail near the sledding hill which looked more firm than I would have expected with full coverage. I saw a couple handfuls of classic skiers; one told me it was great but that people had been walking on the groomed trails in some areas.
