Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Fast skate skiing conditions with a few twigs from the recent wind event. Classic ski tracks were icy or non-existent but for skate skiing there was just enough loose snow for control and lots of glide. I whizzed through the pine and oak forest and dodged the occasional stick. I didn't try the steep hill up the backside of the dune due to icy conditions but stayed on the 2.5k, 4k, and 5k loops. The best conditions were on the Lost Lake Loop.

Trails were freshly groomed but there was a little snow over an icy base. Tracks were shallow, skate was better. The base is pretty solid however.

Skied as it was snowing which made for fun but slow conditions. Good coverage on all the lighted trails. B skis for Spencer's advanced and Verna's classic because there were a couple areas with lots of sticks poking up. You could use good skis if you avoid those two trails.
