Found the trails are now closed. Thanks to everyone at Battle Creek for a very nice well groomed season. Mother Nature wins early this year. Thanks again for all your hard work!

Morning
Observation
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
Due to the high temps, warm forecast, and ever-growing bare spots on the trails, the snow was not reasonably workable at the overnight temp of about 50F. You can ski what snow remains at your own discretion. Despite the relative lack of natural snow, it was a good season overall. Thank you all for the kind words over the season and have a wonderful off season!

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Warming temps were taking a toll on the trails, but all the snow making trails were still open midday. The ski season is likely coming quickly to a close, but what a season it was. Beautiful spring conditions this week: sunny skies, very sparse crowds, and best yet, each day there were several groups of kids out experiencing nordic skiing for the first time. It's such an asset to have such great trails in the east metro -- many thanks to the Battle Creek groomers for maintaining excellent conditions in a challenging low snow year!

very pleasant conditions. The trail is getting thinner, but is still in good condition. Two small patches of ice, a few dirty spots, and one or two depressions that likely will burn through soon. Most of the skate deck was very good. The classic tracks descending to the shoe were excellent - deep and with a nice smooth radius - great fun.

Bravo groomers! It was another good day of skiing considering the loss of snow yesterday. This is such a wonderful resource and the groomers have done a phenomenal job throughout the season. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Conditions at Battle Creek this morning were variable. Most of the trail was in fair condition, but there are occasional ice patches that are mostly avoidable. The groomer was out until around 8am, which made the skate deck somewhat soft. Groomer did reset tracks in some areas but they were very soft. The A climb was closed.

7:30 am start, skated snowmaking loops. Grooming was very very nice again today. New this morning were a few icy patches, but they were easily avoidable and not in the danger zones. For example, cowabunga including the turn at the bottom were immaculate, so much fun. The very inside of the downhill turn at the far end of tree loop was a bit icy. As the morning went on more ice was exposed as skiers had a good time. I would say B skis early morning. There's still so many beautiful sections of snow to skate and lots of it seems to be natural snow. What a treat!

Skated snowmaking starting at 730am. Absolutely gorgeous grooming, even on the trouble spots. Can't thank the crew enough. My Ramsey ski pass is so worth it. Once the sun and above freezing temps hit the snow, it got soft and some of the hardpack/ice got a bit exposed in spots. There's still a magic hour at BC!

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All the snowmaking trails were open with good snow coverage, however, the evening conditions were not great for skate skiing as the ruts from skiers on the softer snow in the day time frozen into icy crud at night. The frozen iced over ruts made for some dicey downhills. I only skied the green and blue trails for that reason. Conditions looked good for classic. A few of the lights along the course are burnt out and there were no lights along the downhill section that goes from the blue tree trails back down to the pond loop. It also looked like a section in the back part of the south tree loop woods did not have any lights. I recommend avoiding that section at night when snow conditions are poor due to such bad lighting.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
I was surprised how good the conditions were yet in mid afternoon. I put B skis for adding on the silver trail - which was quite do-able and pretty good coverage. Snowmaking trails are good skis and the tracks were great - firm but I had good kick with my skin skis.
