Notes

Some of the best trails in southern Minnesota. Tucked in the valley behind the school, the trails run around the northern slopes of the valley making them quite challenging and also well protected from the sun. Some lighted sections, and snowmaking operations.

The 1.5km man made loop is surprisingly good - especially considering several days of rain last weekend. Thank you groomers for working your magic!

First time on these trails, and was pleasantly surprised. While thin in a few spots, there was sufficient coverage throughout their 1.5K loops, with a mixture of sugary, slightly icy, and just right skate deck. Folks in the classic tracks seemed to be enjoying themselves and making great progress, as well. Super easy to hit the trails quickly, and all told a lot of fun - we will be back!

We were able to bring back to life our 1.5K manmade loop and were able to bring up some fresh white snow. Set a classic track the whole way around with fairly good results!

The man made snow loops survived the heatwave! And the rain! There was only one spot starting to show through, and it's a little icy.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
St Mary's ski trails have all been rolled. Our manmade loop is very good you can use your good skis. The rest of the system is thin but skiable; you may encounter a rock or twigs therefore rock skis are recommended and of course a little caution.

The trail groomers worked sim magic today! It was rock solid ice when I got there and Greg Updike and another groomer made some beautiful skating snow. Go check it out.

Hats off to the Snowmaking and trail crew! The 1.5k of loops is the best thing to ski on within many miles of Winona. It's just so nice to get off of the roller skis, not that I was on them that much this fall. There's no bare spots, the nice base got topped with slight fresh coat of snow. We could use some real snow, but for the time being, I'm glad we have this.

Beautiful trails at St. Mary's today. Amazing how good the snow conditions were after sleet this morning. Mostly skate skiers out today. There was a 1.5 K loop. Very nice! They have definitely done a lot of work on the trails! We are grateful to have ski trails in southeastern Minnesota.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
The 1.5 km man-made trail survived the warm-spell but needed some new coverage. Volunteers hammered Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday and covered the entire man-made area with a new coating of snow. Grooming plans: Grooming/leveling planned for Friday. Hopefully your schedule is open for skiing Saturday and Sunday! The lights turn on automatically daily around 4:30PM and off automatically after 9PM. For first timers, access is from Yon's Valley. Make your way to Saint Yon's Hall parking lot.
