Trail Detail
Notes
Mostly easy to moderate with a few challenging hills. Best known for good grooming and scenic views of the Brule River. Groomed for both classic and skating. Home to the River View Loppet Race in March.Trail Reports

More of a trudge than a classic ski - can barely see the dimpled tracks in the new snow. Very windy although less so in the woods obviously. Looks like about 4 to 5 inches of new fluffy snow. The grooming was just getting started when I left at 9:40 AM. Pretty glorious out there.

JT and I skated 25 K. It was slow but the trails were in good to great shape. All trails were groomed and most trails were tracked except Red Pine and Nebagamon. The trails closest to the chalet were more firm than the outer trails. The fat bike trail was groomed Sunday and is in excellent condition.

My first time skiing this trail system. I skied the Classic Trail, Maple, part of Oak, White Pine, North/East Loop, and Aspen, about 20 km total. The worst thing I can say about conditions was that there were pine needles and leaves in some of the tracks, with the problem being greater on the Classic Trail, as it is more in the trees than the trails groomed for skating. You could avoid many of these sections by jumping out of the tracks. My poles hit some soft spots a couple times, but it I maybe wouldn't have noticed if I had larger baskets on the poles. And there were a few spots where grass was showing through in the tracks. But the base was pretty solid and there were machine set tracks, which is not such a common thing to find this year on natural snow.

Skate skied, trails were soft and a bit bumpy but with a good base under to keep most debris out of the way. I would use B skis. Just a few thin spots. Classic tracks set. I skied maple to oak to white pine to river and the loop and back. It was glorious! Get out there!

Go and get it! First time here. Skate skied. Best kept secret for recent lake effect snow. Also some snow coverage from Friday evening that made for a little soft stuff after last groom. Classic track set nicely. Great warming clubhouse and meeting new people who are out for first time this year and grateful for the snow!

Brule had a bonus 5-6" lake effect snow over the first part of the week. BRSF groomed and set track today on most trails and also made a pass down the classic trail. I didn't see tracks on the classic trail. The fat bike trail was also groomed. Looking better than ever so far this year.
