Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
I unfortunately have not been able to ski much this season, however I got out this morning at 10:30 and had a great ski, I was skating. Eric and Mike were out this morning for 3 hours with both of the Pisten Bullies, and powertilled 41 k of trails this morning and it skied well. The new snow mixed in with the old and I was happy.

First time at ABR but definitely not the last. Staff incredibly helpful with wax recommendations, trails, etc. Skied yesterday in very warm condition so very little glide. Light dusting of snow and temps around freezing made for faster conditions today. Tracks were set on all skating trails but not on classic only trails. Tracks were firm and beautiful. Even classic trails that were not groomed this morning were very skiable with a light coat of snow in the tracks. What a gem.

Crasher and pig heart took both Pisten Bullies out and groomed 51 k of trails. It was very good skiing on the groomed trails the trails groomed up well and skied well. We are suggesting the classic only for the flat sections, jack pine, jack flats. The camp forest spring group was here on their annual trek and outing, they built 12 quinces (snow forts to sleep in). Grooming plans: Two Pisten Bullies out at 5 or 6 tomorrow morning again. 30% off in the ski shop, season passes discounted on sale and Suffolk Street Eatery is taking orders through Friday night at 7 pm. Order your lunch for delivery Saturday to ABR Ski trails.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Great spring skiing today. 40 degrees and sunny. Skiers enjoyed the conditions. Pig heart groomed 15 k with the bigger Pisten Bully this morning on old ABR and snow cross groomed skate lanes with the 9 foot skate lane ginzu on 31 k of combi trails. Grooming plans: The warm temps did not melt the base it softened the top 1 inch. We plan to use one or both Pisten Bullies to renovate and regroom the main trails, and we plan to have a groomer out on the south trails scratching up skate lanes. Conclusion, we plan to have skiable terrain at 9 am, but I would suggest Hemlock, sunset etc which are single tracks with hills, they will not be groomed in the morning and will be fast. Best to check with the ski cabin on the grooming reports. Wednesday we will attack the trails with a full crew and open up more trails. 30% off sale continues in the ski shop.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We had a great day of skiing today. Both Pisten Bullies groomed all the combination trails from 5-9:30 and Partner groomed all the single tracks. We received about a 1/2 inch of snow during/after grooming but skiing was great. Firm at 9 am and a bit softer this afternoon as the temps rose and sun came out but still the surface remained firm. Grooming plans: we have a grooming crew lined up in the morning. Ski shop sale continues at 30% off.

Congratulations to all the skiers involved with the American Birkebeiner events today, and thank you to all the participants that trained and practiced here. Crasher and PigHeart groomed 51 km of trails this morning with both Pisten Bullies. The trails are skiing great. We had a full house with happy skiers. Grooming plans: Sunday we plan to have both Pisten Bullies out grooming up the combo trails and 1 or 2 single track groomers in grooming all the single tracks. The Ski Shop was busy with today with 30% off in the front ski shop and 20-50% off on skis and poles in the back room. Rentals skis, boots and poles and snowshoes also on sale.

Great snow conditions combined with great grooming made for a great day! Warmer temperatures in the 20s helped also. Classic skied Sunset, Wolf Tracks and Haughten in the morning. Skied Blueberry and Popple flats in the afternoon. All tracks were firm and deep set. Wonderful day to be skiing!

Snow Cross and Crasher groomed most of the combi trails and PB groomed Tammarack 2 track and Ridge Runner with the PB. Ridge Runner is groomed for classic and skate, we will leave it for a while, looking for feedback from the skiers. We had the entire team of 8 groomers come in for a formal Foundation meeting and coffee and a group video and picture on snow. Grooming plans: Friday we plan to regroom some classic only and do touch up grooming as needed with Pisten Bully 1 or 2. This is a picture of our dedicated grooming team, they all are planning on working next year for the Foundation. I feel so blessed working with this dedicated crew!
