Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails were groomed early this morning, then several inches of snow (which was not in the forecast - the best kind!) came down. It made for some really nice skating - cold fresh snow is supposed to grab skis, but the opposite happened - good glide! From the Swedetown Trails Club, thanks to all who visited us over the holidays!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
To say that we need more snow is an understatement at best. All trails have been dragged and Valley, Len's, Tiger, Pineridge, Greenstone, Mama Bear and Baby Bear have been tracked and the rest of the trails have just been dragged. Setting track was very difficult because of the ice under the little bit of snow we have gotten. Hopefully we'll get some snow soon and get back to where we want to be. For those of us less spoiled and not having snow, the skiing is fantastic.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Bare ground ]
Freshly groomed and some track reset, but even the old tracks had a couple inches of powder that easily skied in. Great day of skiing on Ed's, Relentless, Valley, Powderhouse.

The base is rock solid and there is still plenty of snow. There are well set tracks. A 1/2 in of new snow was on top which significantly helped conditions (it was snowing today). There were a couple of short thin patches on the Papa Bear Loop.

Very good classic tracks today with good snow, not icy. Lots of skiers out doing classic and skating.

We used drags this morning on skate lanes and all trails groomed out very good. Surprisingly the track is still in good shape. Get out and enjoy.

The overnight temps were around freezing so groomers didn't go out this morning. I skied Cedar, Tamarack, and Birch and the tracks were good on all of them. A little icy in spots and some oak leaves in spots but overall, a nice outing. It looked like the skating was in good shape too.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skied Ed's Loop and Mama Bear and the snow coverage was good and deep. The snow is older and a bit dirty from tree debris, however the snow was not slow nor sticky which was a surprise given how wet it has been.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We are suspending grooming for today are more than likely tomorrow because of the warm weather and rain. We feel that this is the best way to preserve the current conditions of our trails. We'll update when grooming resumes.
