Notes
Trails consist of 5 separate loops groomed by volunteers from the Wolverine Nordic Ski Club. An interesting mix for all ability levels. Heavily wooded terrain and great snow make for a wonderful ski experience.New warming shelter.Trail Reports

Drove up from Duluth on search of good snow, wasn't disappointed. The groomers did a wonderful job and the trail was beautiful. Tracks are slick and icy in spots and the cords are soft and powdery. Wolverine loop, cliffs trail, and beginners loop were all in great shape, only had to dodge a stick or bare spot a couple of times. Happy skiing!

Wolverine received about 1" of new snow overnight which improved conditions. Groomers appear to have made passes on Cliff Hanger and Wolverine between the Hospital and the Chalet so I think all trails are now open. The Hospital to Chalet stretch of Wolverine and the Beginner loop remain somewhat icy/marginal, but Powderhorn Loop, Cliff trail and Cliff Hanger are all in good to excellent shape. Tracks are variable and in most cases are still the old tracks from before the rain with some very dry skied in powder on top, but there were new set tracks on Cliff Hanger.

The groomers were out this morning. A few trails were track set. Did not groom Wolverine loop from the hospital to Sulo's field, the ponds and Cliff Hanger. The skate lanes were reported as excellent by those who went out early.

Lake Superior Snow Gods offered up a New Years blessing with couple inches of badly needed new snow at Wolverine. There was an ample groomed base already and the new snow on top made for very good skate conditions this afternoon. Skied all trails except for Cliff Hanger which wasn't groomed. The classic tracks were getting skied in as well. Just a few people taking advantage of the fine conditions.

All trails were groomed for skating this morning (except behind the hospital to Sulo's field) No tracks set given lack of snow. It is snowing....yeah!

Skate conditions at Wolverine are really good considering the recent warm up and rain. The skate deck is firm but not icy. The snow is fast and there are really good skate conditions if you are comfortable with some speed. The Wolverine loop west of hospital, novice loops and Cliffhanger are closed but everything else is open and fun. The stadium area by chalet is icy but once you get up the headwall the snow is great. There are a few areas on the trails that froze from the melting run off but they can be easily navigated. Go out and enjoy.

The Headwall skate lane and up to the Powderhorn Loop was touched up slightly today. Novice and Wolverine Loop not groomed. Trying to avoid digging up debris. Waiting for the next snow fall.

All trails freshly groomed and tracked this morning. Come and enjoy! The overnight temps kept the base in good shape.
