Skied the Moraloppet 20K this morning. First and foremost, kudos to the Mora snow farmers for making something out of almost nothing, well done! The skating was fast and fun. Didn't see many classic skiers but the track looked decent. I'm rating it B skis only for some dirty snow, didn't see a single thing that could damage a ski, but might need to clean the bases. Maybe more A-minus than B. The loop is more like 7.5-8K than 10, as my Strava clocked 15.2 K for 2 loops and that was corroborated by another skier I spoke to.

Terrific amount of trail available at the Vasaloppet Nordic Center. Warm temperatures made trail icy along the Berm Trail, but it got better as you went into the woods. Some of the track in sections had bark, twigs, and leaves, but that was manageable. There was big bare spot at the base of a climb in the vasa hills, but that was easily avoided. I mostly classic skied with my skins, which performed pretty well on this snow in above freezing temps. I only skated a little but found the surface hard and icy. It was nice to get away and ski somewhere different than Battle and Hyland for a change.

Skied for about an hour today starting at noon. Snow pack was great and although the trails were starting to get a bit soft, I had a nice ski. Classic track looked good. Thanks to the Vasaloppet crew!

I participated in the Founders Classic race and also skied at Mora on Thursday. They had about 5.5-6 K of trails groomed for the race, and they had other sections that were open on Thursday. The conditions for the race were excellent. The classic track was pristine. The snow farmers have really done an outstanding job of getting the trails in shape with man-made snow. Thanks and respect to them!

Skied classic today for about 2 hours. Very good skiing conditions for classic and skating. There's about 7 km in pretty good shape.

I skated almost 9 km along segments of the Dala and Belltower loops. The skate deck was hard and rough with edgeable snow that varied from thin to non-existent. The first segment of the Dala loop from Point 2 to Point 3 had quite a bit of tree debris, but was relatively skiable. The classic tracks were intermittent and regularly shifted from one side of the trail to the other. The trail conditions have gone from very good (last week Thursday) to only fair today. On the plus side, the Vasaloppet crew has made a huge pile of snow and was moving it out onto the trails. The temperature was in the high 20s, and I was skiing where I couldn't last year, thanks to the grooming crew.

The Snow Farmers are doing a great job and there is a big pile of snow ready to expand the trails. Skate deck was good with some leaves and tree debris from the strong winds.

Grooming Scheduling [ Trails Open: Most, ]

There is now nearly 7km of groomed trail from the Nordic Center. Snow coverage is excellent and classic tracks are set. Get out and enjoy! The Snow Farmers continue to haul, spread, and groom snow to expand the trail length. Note: the Nordic Center trails will close at 6pm on Friday, January 17th to prepare the trails for the major high school ABC relays meet on Saturday. Trails will be closed from 10am to 2pm Saturday, January 18th during the meet.

Excellent work by the snow farmers out in Mora. Snow was in excellent shape, and the 3-4 inches of new stuff certainly helped. About 5.5k was open.
