Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Today we ran the Pisten Bully groomer with the front end renovator on all the double track trails. We used the renovator to widen, level, smooth out drifts, and bring up transformed fine grained granulated snow deep within the base. A few extra passes on the Section classic courses than we set tracks on all those trails. We also packed and leveled drifts on the remaining single track classic trails. We also worked on the east Bootleg fat bike trail and getting closer to completing that full loop. Tomorrow we will cut track on all singletrack trails and touch up the skate lanes.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
2" new snow past 24 hours with blizzard like conditions at times as peak wind gusts in the areas were reported near 50 mph. We groomed (packing and roll combing) over 100km today, working on 40km of trail. The Section race courses for next week saw a few extra passes today. With over 5 feet of total snowfall so far this season, the ponds and sloughs are filled with snow and any wind the snow drifts on to the trails. Grooming during the wind events makes it easier for the next grooming run. We have groomed every day the past 6 weeks on at least some portion of the trail system. Wednesday we will set track on select trails and plan a total regroom of the entire trail system Thursday and Friday. We have been staying on top of 18km of fat bike trail the "InnerWest" loop and this week started on the Bootleg loop to the east, hoping to have 30km of groomed fat bike trail by the weekend.

Ski conditions remain excellent at Maplelag. We skied Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, and North Loup - all are in very fine shape. Great day on the ski trails at Maplelag.

All trails we skied were groomed and well covered after last nights snow. Temperature is always misleading up here, it is is so well protected from the wind.

Maplelag’s ski trails today remain in their typical state: Outstanding! Maplelag has an abundance of snow, coverage is excellent, and the classic tracks are firm and in fine shape. Thanks to Jay and his team for another great afternoon of skiing. I was on Sap Run, Twin Lakes, Sukkerbusk, North Loup and Roy’s Run... all are in superb condition.

Had great time skiing most of the classic trails over 3 days--great weather, great snow, great tracks and, of course, great food. Planning a return trip this season.

Trails groomed to perfection. I skied this morning Bullhead Trail including its extension, then Roy’s Run, for a total of 15 K. Cold, but sunshine! Enjoy your skiing weekend! Trails in the mid section are, of course, in great shape and always fun to ski on, but the real adventure and challenge start in the outside ring of trails, like North Loop, Roy’s, etc.

The cold or the wind were no major factors in the woods. Wavy Gravy, Twin Lakes, Island Lake, and North Loop freshly groomed, along with trails in the mid section. Overall, an enjoyable day on the trails, as always.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Another great day on the trails. After the morning groom structuring all the skate only trails and resetting track on 33km of classic only trail, we hosted the Moorhead JV/JR High race. The JV race was a double tracked out and back around one of the western trails, Twin Lakes. A pure cross country race! At lunch time we reset the track on Twin Lakes providing a fresh look for the afternoon skiers and touched up some of the inner segments. This evening it started snowing with 2" new as of 11pm. Grooming plans: Groomers are set to head out in the morning working the new snow on the entire trail system. Notes: Two of the normally double track trails have been set best line singletrack classic. Traditional classic skiing is the foundation of Maplelag. We do not groom skate and classic on the same trail. Exception to this is the conducive trail North Loup which is currently groomed skate only but next week we will cut a track on the side on the flats and closer to the middle on the downhills. Snowshoe trails are now packed in nicely and good to see folks crossing north to shoe the new trails across the Goat Ranch. We are maintaining close to 100km of ski, snowshoe and fat bike trail.

Fabulous conditions! Trails set fresh and crisp. Fast and fun with traditional fishscale skis. I did Wavy Gravy, Island Lake, Twin Lakes, Mother North Star, and Sap Run twice - total of 20K. Winter Wonderland, to say the least.
