Ski both natural loops this morning soft but beautiful. Great workout, not that many people on the trails for the natural but everybody out there was smiling ear to ear!

I had put my skis away for the season but got them back out after the snow yesterday. The snow was firm and well groomed - Hyland never disappoints with their grooming. There was a little ice in the classic tracks as expected with spring skiing. Note that I only skied the trails with a man made snow base. I saw people skate skiing some of the natural only snow trails but I don't know any details on them.

Plenty of snow for good skis in most places but very deep and ungroomed today. Classic looked fine, skating was impossible. Three rivers said they groomed this morning so I wonder if a lot of the snow was blown on post grooming.

The snowmaking loop was in very good to excellent condition at my 9:45 am start. it was around 40 degrees and mostly sunny. There was light corn in the sun that got deeper on the generally sun-exposed climbs - outbound Willow Creek and Scenic Foothills and in-bound Frog Town. There was some soft rutting in the same spots plus towards the top of the Boulder Ridge climb. Despite those challenges I was able to skate all the outbound climbs slowly until I got to Boulder Ridge beyond the saddle but I had to rest after each of the 3 stages/slopes of the Scenic Foothills inbound climb. I was tired and fighting a cold so my slower pace probably wasn't a surprise. The Boulder Ridge downhill was in great shape. There was light skier traffic. Overall it was really nice spring skiing. Thanks again to the groomers for their excellent work.

Trails were outstanding today, some of the fastest snow of the season. No leaves, no ice, no dirt.... Thanks grooming team!

The snowmaking loop was in very good condition at my 1:15 pm start. It was mid 30's and sunny. Conditions varied from generally moderate amounts of wet corn in the sun that grew heavier on the most southern-exposed climbs like Willow Creek outbound to nearly dry, cold snow in the deepest shade. There was almost no rutting or any significant snowplow wakes or any soft spots on any downhills that would cause any "suck you out of your bindings" deaccelerations. The return downhill from the top of Frog Town to the shack remains fast. Skier traffic was light. Thanks to the groomers for maintaining this great spring skiing.

Awesome conditions this morning. The groomers did an amazing job overnight to get rid of some bare ice and deep corn that had accumulated yesterday afternoon. The skate deck was fast, the uphills were in great condition, and the sun was shining. It doesn't get much better this time of year.

At my 12:15 start, the snowmaking loop was in very good condition. It was around 23 degrees and sunny. All the early ice had been broken up by skier traffic and there was predictably some sugar build-up on the climbs. Not bad enough to stop me from skating them but it did slow me down. The Boulder Ridge downhill was in great shape, the Scenic Foothills return downhill was just showing a little snowplow ridge and Frog Town and Willow Creeks downhills were fast. Skier traffic was on the lighter side with the nearly full front parking lot when I got there down to half full when I retruned a half hour later. Thanks again to the groomers.

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Only a short ski this morning. With the cold temp the trail was icy hard and fast. The classic tracks were firm but I had a hard time getting grip on the skins. The trail was groomed with oddly wide tracks as seen in the picture from the practice area.
