Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The natural snow trails (Skyline, Bridge, Tornado Alley) are still fully skiable with rock skis - just enough snow under 55 bridge to make it through. Rock hard snow in some places, but still possible to skate on the natural stuff! Snowmaking loop was in perfect shape per usual.

As usual, great grooming for skate and classic on the snowmaking trails. Pretty cold this afternoon, but there was plenty of sunshine and not very many skiers. It's always a good ski at Theo!

What a distinctly different feel the natural snow is compared to the machine-made that many of us are used to on the snowmaking trails. Great conditions today, maybe a little loose and soft on the skate deck, but a pleasure to ski on it. Classic tracks were phenomenal in spots, surprisingly a little dirty in (few) stretches, but otherwise a nice outing all-around. Tracks were a little soft, lots of skate skiers hitting them and causing the top couple inches to crumble in spots.

Skijored this morning on the natural trails north of Glenwood. If you don't mind hitting the odd stone or clump of dirt, the trails are still quite fun! About an inch (or maybe less) is packed real firm on the paved sections.

As usual, great conditions for both classic and skate at Wirth this afternoon. It was another cold day, but not too bad without much wind. Had a fun ski on all the hilly trails! It was another day without many skiers.

Excellent conditions for both skate and classic on the snowmaking trails this morning at Theo. It was great to have the recent snowfall mixed in to the bottom of the tracks. There were very few people on the trails, and it reminded me of skiing at Par 3 in the early 70's!

For the first time this year I absolutely loved getting out on the trails. I typically ski early evening/night and for first time with fresh snow and cool temperatures, the courses held up brilliant over a busy Sunday. Finally got my confidence back and the pleasant experience reinvigorated my interest in the sport. Phew. Skied every snowmaking trail except La Squandra and by 7:30pm end time, they were all near perfect.

Powdery skate deck and shallow tracks because of our wonderful fresh snow but beautiful and great nonetheless!

Classic skied this morning on the green and blue artificial trails at Theodore Wirth. All trails were perfectly groomed and tracked. Fantastic conditions. Thank you groomers and weather! Let's hope for snow soon.

Fantastic conditions this early morning before the high school races. No ice at all, in fact the snow felt slow to me - although it may have been my skis or the wind or the teensy weensie bit of new cold snow. Regardless, a fantastic morning for skiing at Wirth!
