Most of the trails are on the golf course, thus pretty open and fairly flat. The course really winds back and forth.

Groomed the trail with mixed results. Decent base in spots and grass showing in others. Recommend using B skis. Get out and enjoy the weekend!

Phalen cross country ski trail was roll-groomed today, very soft and drifty snow. Hopefully it will pack in. No classic track was set. Stay warm.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Rock skis ]
I was out a little after the City had made a second pass to pack the trail (no classic tracks). It was nice to be out in the bright sun; skate deck was descent for the thin snow conditions; very slow in the cold. Near the pine groves and a couple other spots there were lots of branches and pine cones on the trail (I cleared some). There also was a spot.5-1 km from reaching the clubhouse parking where my ski found a sneaky rock under the snow and I landed on my nose. I was able to find the rock and clear it.

Did a roll groom and the ski deck is thin but skiable. No classic track set at this time.

Caught first tracks at Phalen. Three groomer passes wide with a nice deck. A little thin in places and hard skate pushes went down to ground. Should be even better when it firms up harder. Appears too thin for classic tracks.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
No grooming, but just enough coverage to be able to get some kick and glide without sinking all the way down to the grass. Best coverage is on the sections of lower fairways where a little bit more snow has accumulated.

[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
With this warm weather and rain the ski trail is closed at this time. Hopefully Mother Nature is kind to us in the near future.

Trails were getting really soft but still absolutely skiable. I used my good skis and there were a decent amount of leaves and twigs, some grass, and occasional (but obvious and avoidable) bare cart path.

Groomed with skate deck only, no classic track. Thin/bare spots throughout. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Still good coverage at Phalen. I'd still suggest rock skis as the deck gets softer with the warming temps. There's enough spots where you cross cart paths that you'll risk scraping ground. All in all, still quite skiable though.
