2015-2016 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 91    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov

Grooming Scheduling
[ B skis ]
A weekly snowfall of 4"+ of wet, heavy snow is allowing for at least 10K of good spring skiing, with many more K of safe but decent to poor skiing. Base Loop, Tornado, Survivor, Nose Dive, parts of XC Express, parts of Creek Trail and Lynx, and other trails are in good spring shape. The chalet will be open Saturday, 9am-5pm, with an option for Sunday if conditions permit. Bring your "B" skis, your own snacks, a small donation for the trail fund.

Conditions: 1" snow base on Base Loop, Tornado Alley, Survivor, Nose Dive, and the Yukon Trail outbound leg. There's also good skiing on Wolf Tracks from Manhardt Road to the cabin. Elsewhere: patches of skiable snow, tree debris, and a lot of ice and grass.
Snow is melting fast! The chalet will be open daily until 5:00 PM on Saturday, March 12.

Morning
Grooming Scheduling
Conditions: Spring skiing! All 90K remain open, and the trails are in fair to very good condition, depending on the time of day. Early-morning snow is typically crusty and icy. Mid- and late-morning are the best times to ski as the snow is slightly soft. Snow gets too soft after 2+ hours of high temps.
We will post skier comments on snow base depth and other conditions, but we do not anticipate being able to groom again this week.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent for skating.
Skied out to Lake Marie this morning. Dreamy conditions: firm, fast, silky smooth, negligible debris. It was softening up as I hobbled in around noon with temps soaring into the high 40s.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Saturday morning: 3" of mostly wet snow. Groomers took the PistenBully to set tracks on 57K in excellent condition and the PB and Gators to make 75K of excellent skate lanes. The classic track bases are a good mix of fresh snow and shaved ice, with very good sidewalls, giving good kick to waxless skis. Skate lanes have great cord atop very firm bases. The PB is on Lake Marie this Saturday morning; by the afternoon, we'll have 74K of groomed tracks and 75K of groomed skate lanes. The 15K Wilderness trails have not been groomed, and they have loose powder on icy/crusty bases.
Tonight's grooming plan will be weather-dependent. On Sunday, March 6, enjoy our Community Day with free trail passes, games, and more!

[ B skis ]
Conditions: Fast on the icy side.
Skied with one of my mentors: Dan Clausen, who took me out on a combo-run that include some frozen river skate skiing. What a blast! Plan to hit it Friday first thing. MWP is an amusement park for Nordic! Thanks Dan!
