Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Perfectly groomed trails on all natural snow for xMas! It doesnt get any better. All the skate lanes are newly groomed and the classic trails are deep, if not a little soft after new snow and a few days of skiing. Skin skis today with only a little slip--mostly very good grip/glide. Low 20s start. High 20s by 10:30.

Skated today at 2:00pm. Very nice conditions, even in the deep part of the woods. Little to no debris, and thick snow made for a nice time, no concerns with using good skis. Thanks Gerry!

Lots of snow at CLCF. Trails were nicely groomed and a little soft due to the 3+ inches of snow they received the day before. New track was not set but the old track looked good.

Out around 10AM, found fabulous new / soft snow conditions. Groomer had been out earlier in morning so some fresh corduroy, good coverage throughout. Lot was full with many happy faces on trail. Combine that with stunning scenery - a bit of "ski heaven".

Great mid-day ski today on very nice classic tracks. Most of the tracks still in great conditions while some area find skaters who have lost their way and obliterated the very nice tracks. Great hill climbing grip with skin skis with variable bindings set fairly forward. Started snowing again as I was leaving, 2-3 more inches fell. Grooming plans: Jerry plans to groom again early tomorrow.

Awesome skiing conditions. The classic tracks were plentiful, very well set, and firm throughout about half of the system. My Madshus skin skis had great grip up all of the hills (except for the Apple Tree Hill but that's a steep one). Skate lanes looked really nice. Fox Hill (with its own micro-climate) received approximately 12" in the bullseye of the last storm. It really groomed up nicely with complete coverage. Bring your good skis.

Classic tracks were very good, firm and deep. The skate lane was good, still soft in some spots especially the east/west loops in the woods. The Porta potty will arrive Monday.

Out for light classic ski around 1PM. New soft snow conditions with good coverage throughout. Initial grooming tracks helped to pack trail. Grooming plans: Spoke with groomer Jerry who indicates formal grooming will take place after break-in period for new snow machine. Anticipate snow settling overnight with additional grooming tomorrow. Many thanks to those who contributed to acquiring new grooming machine!
