Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Lots of snow, deep skied in classic tracks on the Silver Loop. Hard to tell what wax to use, snow seems to be different at different depths. Should last for a while!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Took a lap at BC this morning. No grooming but none needed. Lots of snow and very easy to make your own tracks. There are spots were the ground is wet under the 5-7" of snow but not a big deal.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We have decided to cease grooming for the season with warm temps starting tomorrow. Most of the trail has enough snow for skiing with some bare spots here and there so be careful if you give it a go. Glad to have some natural snow all the way into mid March! Great snow season!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skied the entire course except for Ski Games. The coverage is still pretty good except for the few spots where melting typically happens, like near the bottom of the lighted loop. Where there is shade, the skate deck was mostly firm. There are hopefully a few more days of decent skiing left.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Battle creek has amazingly varying conditions, some portions are fantastic with ice well-set skate and classical tracks, 10 yards later is a miserable conglomeration of brown icy stuff, then a few yards later something entirely different. Skate tracks fluctuate but are mostly icy. There is one section of the long back loop that is completely dirt and forest floor for about 50 feet, that section is rock skis or remove the skis and walk (what I chose to do).

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied Silver, Ski Games, and WC trails at noon. All trails but Ski Games were freshly track and in very good late winter condition. Ski Games was a little ruff because of walkers and it hadn't been groomed in a few days. There is plenty of snow there. Skate lane looked great, smooth and flat. Just a few spots starting to get sun burn out.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied the gold loop (which was beginning to soften up but still holding up well with a couple bare spots) and the ski games loop (which is always fun and provides good birdwatching, but is pretty damaged due to foot traffic). Had a great time on a beautiful warm and sunny afternoon. Today is very likely my last ski of the season. Thank you 2017-18 season, you were amazing! Also many thanks to the volunteer groom crew - your skilled work is much appreciated!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed and reset tracks on the Easy, Bronze, Silver and Gold. The Ski Games side was not re-groomed. Very good skating and classic conditions throughout the system with just a few minor icy areas and/or small sections of bare ground that are easily avoided. There are also more twigs appearing in certain areas as the more intense sun hits the trails, but not a real issue if you are careful. Use B skis if you have a concern. These are the best March conditions that we have had at Battle Creek in several years. Get out and enjoy it while you can.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied the entire outer loop on the west, including the 3.6km across the road. The conditions were good considering the weather lately. There were a couple bad bare spots, lots of debris on the trail, and several icy spots. I was little nervous using my good skis, but really wanted to take advantage of my last few good ski days. I plan on skiing Battle Creek much more next season to work on my hill form. It was an excellent workout.

Ski Games trail is pretty decent for classic with some icy and rutted areas but who can complain for March skiing. This has been one of the best season for snow coverage.
