Notes

Most of the trails are on the golf course, thus pretty open and fairly flat. The course really winds back and forth.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Bare ground ]
Groomed this morning. No classic as 4 inch snow with ice below. First skate was through to grass in spots. We were first classic.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Ungroomed but great crust skiing this morning at sunrise.
Nearly full coverage of 2" on the usual ~5k course. The refrozen crust on top worked well for skating. May be good tomorrow morning as well but that's probably if for a while.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Nothing groomed.
There are some fairways that have a nice amount of snow. Classic skied today at noon making my own tracks. Skiing was good with temperature at 31 degrees. After second or third pass the track would ice up. The ground must be warm.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: This is likely old news given the developing conditions - at 3:00 the Fischer RCS crowns with Fastwax Red worked well on skier made tracks. Downhills were hesitant.
So good to be out at Phalen again! Four other skiers, white and wonderful! From day to day the conditions will be changing so need to go out and do whatever it requires, my mantra...

Grooming Scheduling
Conditions: Closed until conditions improve.
Unfortunately the ground is still too soft to groom. We'll get out there as soon as conditions are favorable, but it will likely be a couple of weeks still. Cross your fingers for some cold weather and more snow!
