Notes

Some of the best trails in southern Minnesota. Tucked in the valley behind the school, the trails run around the northern slopes of the valley making them quite challenging and also well protected from the sun. Some lighted sections, and snowmaking operations.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Groomed all trails this morning. The main loop is good skate skiing however classic tracks are frozen and in rough shape with no way to groom at present. The upper most trails were groomed but very icy prior to grooming and if deciding to ski them downhill areas are very fast and require good skills.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
After yesterday's warm and last night's cool down much renovation was needed to bring the trail back to skiable. The main 5K and river trails were scratched hard and should be pretty good for skating. We didn't touch the upper trails. No skiing on the upper trails is advised. The classic track is shallow and glazed with debris and can't be reset at this time. Use skis you won't mind getting nicked up but the trail is 90% covered and the few spots that are thin can be avoided.

All trails are open with good coverage. Fresh tracks are set and skate lanes are groomed. Nice to have the trails going with happy skiers.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trails were groomed this morning. Good deep, clean classic track on main 5KM loop and great cord for skating. Rattlesnake was rolled for skating and looked great too. A bit of leafy debris but nothing that would inhibit skiing. All in all an amazing after Xmas ski experience.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
St. Mary's Trails received 5" of wet snow covered with 3-4" of fluffy snow. Tree damage and branches slowed the packing process. All of the trails except the Upper Trails were rolled and combed. We concentrated on the H.S. race course (meet scheduled for Saturday morning starting at 10, with 4 teams involved). Grooming plans: As temps cool, we'll get all the trails in shape.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
We received 5" of wet snow on Friday. The main 5K loop has been rolled and packed. A 1.5K loop of man made snow was also rolled and a classic track set on that loop only. The snow is heavy and slow as it's been misting all morning. The skate deck is in fair to poor condition and definitely use rock skis.
