Trail Reports

2016-2017 season
Reports 39 to 48 of 55    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Skied 10km, should have used B skis. Good hard deck, solid lake ice in low spots. So much tree litter in spots you won't be able to go around. Lower loop has so many line needles you will need to take skis off to walk through. Tracks are thoroughly lined with leaves 50% of trail. Don't let the relatively clean trail at parking lot fool you.

[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Hard, icy conditions. Only hints of recent grooming. Tracks leaf-filled and rock hard. There were five cars in the parking lot at 3 pm so some people were giving it a go, but the conditions were so bad I barely lasted 1K.

I followed the groomer and skied about 8 miles. A few hills were even groomed. I was amazed at the surface, good edging. Lots of little sticks and pine needles but glide wasn't a problem.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails are icy from all of the rain yesterday. Very few if any bare spots but there is a lot of pine needles, leaves and branches on the trail. I even had to go around one down tree. I would suggest waiting until we get some more snow before you go to Tower Ridge.

With a few inches of snow late yesterday, the trails are in great shape. Good base with a classic track. Merry Christmas!

Went out starting at 3:30 on Friday and the groomer was making the rounds. It was soft but not too soft, and the areas he passed by first seemed to be a bit firmer. Nice we got the snow we did. Looked like a Christmas card out there; beautiful. I would guess it would be a near perfect morning to ski with the freshly groomed trails as it might firm up overnight. Just the snowfall that was needed to cover up the trail where is was hinting at getting icy and starting to bare.

Trails are slightly icy but overall very good shape. There are a few spots where the groomer kicked up some dirt but they are easy to avoid. Great day to be outside!

Excellent conditions, all trails were well groomed and no bare spots. The classic tracks appeared to be in good shape too. Some oak leaves and pine needles on trail, but not bad.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The groomer was still going around at 1:30 when I left. All the skating decks were freshly groomed and he had set track on about 80% of the trails at that time. The skating deck is mostly firm and even and no brown spots. The tracks were firm and deep with only an occasional oak leaf.

Groomed recently, snow was like styrofoam due to the cold. Sunny and no wind made for a nice ski. There were classic tracks in most areas.
