2017-2018 season
Reports 15 to 24 of 46    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Friday, February 16, 2018
Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The icy, hard-pack skating deck that resulted from the warming/cooling temps was groomed today, resulting in a pebbly corduroy that was controllable and mostly fast. The steep hills were not groomed. No new classic tracks were set: the existing tracks are hard with some glazed spots--but fast.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Spring skiing conditions this morning: The skate deck was mostly hard-packed snow at first but softened as the temps got into the mid-30s. The icy spots softened except in the shade. Fast conditions. The classic track is slightly glazed in south-facing or sunny stretches, but the track is intact, mostly clear of debris, and fast.

Both skating and classic are excellent. The skating deck is firm but just soft enough to have complete edge control. The classic tracks are all new, firm and fast.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The skating deck was groomed on Friday and is in good shape. Stretches near the chalet are packed down but further out there is more fresh corduroy. Some of the classic tracks were reset but most were not. The new are excellent and the existing are good, but a little washed out.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Plenty of snow and in good shape, although the trails hadn't been groomed since the snow we had on Tuesday night. Classic tracks were a little rough in areas, could use resetting. The skate deck was solid.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
No grooming after the 1" of snow on Tuesday. The center of the skating deck is well-skied-in and tend to be medium hard, but the fringes have better edge control. The classic tracks are solid and have been skied in enough that they are getting faster. Few oak leaves.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
About 1" of medium-dry snow fell last night. The trails have not been groomed. The skating deck is very good with the bit of new snow and the classic tracks have been skied in everywhere, making them very good.

Night
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The skating deck is firm with the center being well-skied-in but with vestiges of corduroy visible on almost all the trails. The winds today knocked oak leaves into the classic tracks in stretches, but they still are excellent.

The trails are groomed and tracks set this morning after the 3" snowfall yesterday. The skating deck is still setting up but there is excellent edge control. Overall excellent conditions.

About 2-3" of snow fell today. No grooming was done today. The skating deck is firm throughout the trails but the new snow was getting a bit deep by late afternoon and you had to pick up your skis. The classic tracks had been used in most areas and the classic skiing was good--no oak leaves--but the hard snowfall kept filling the bottom of the track. Overall very good conditions.
