Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
With the warm conditions yesterday and today, trails are on the fast side. Some leaves on the system. Most of the system is in good condition despite the limited snow to work with. Skiers should be cautions of areas of the trail under trees as this is where the base is thin and icy. We will groom again Friday morning and through the weekend.

Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Strided the 20k loop today around noon. Used skin skis, which was probably a good call. Still had a lot of slipping with the warm snow, but I'm glad I didn't use klister, as there were a lot of oak leaves in the track. There is some pine debris as well where the trees hang over the trail. Trails were actually fast, despite the warm snow. It was 44 degrees in the parking lot when I left. Pretty decent day, but I suspect it might be icy until we get more snow. They've done a very nice job grooming, but there's not a lot to work with. Skate deck had nice coverage, and looked pretty clean, but heard reports that it was getting soft. It seemed pretty fast, however, when I jumped out of the tracks. Beautiful day to be out.

Wow, this was a beautiful area. I skid this on both Saturday and Sunday. Trails were perfectly groomed. There was not a speck of dirt to be seen. Classic track was firm and consistent. Skate deck looked flat and pristine. I talked to one of the employees: they haven't been able to use the PistenBully due to a lack of depth, but the trails were still smooth and flat and in great shape. Any skis recommended. There are nice loops set up with signs directing you on the 20k and 10k loops, and plenty of other trails intertwined to ensure you can switch it up and not get bored.

Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Strided the lighted loop several times tonight. Tracks were fast and in very good shape, and had excellent grip with VR30. Skaters said the snow was a bit slow due to the cold. Very nice, but cold night. They've done a nice job grooming. The lady manning the Chalet thought they'd groom tomorrow and Friday.

Over the past several days I have skied most of the trails. They are in excellent condition thanks to the superb job being done by the groomers. My thanks and compliments for providing such a great place to ski.

Classic skied the 6k loop. Tracks were newly groomed and crisp after a few inches of snow yesterday. Beautiful day.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Falling snow and a full parking lot meant the classic tracks were a little washed out. The skating deck has a hard base but with a layer of softer snow on top. We've picked up a few more inches of snow this afternoon and the temps are supposed to stay cold, so it won't be the fastest out there tomorrow but it should be beautiful.

Classic skied the 20k loop which had great signage. Snow on the ground was a nice sight coming from Milwaukee. Definitely worth the drive. A few inches of fresh snow was falling while we were skiing which made the tracks soft. We saw the groomer out on the trails so I'd expect great trail conditions tomorrow once the snow stops and they finish grooming.

Packing and tracking trails this morning. Tracks have firm base with some good glide in spite of the cold. The John Howard single track trail is also freshly tracked.
Skate deck has firmed up nicely.
