Grooming [ Trails Open: Most, ]
|
Grooming plans: With an additional couple inches of light snow this morning, we will be rolling the system today and grooming tomorrow. Skiers can expect a decent skate surface, although not combed.

What a relief to find some snow! Guy at the chalet said the groomers were out 5 times over the last day. Good base, 100% coverage, nice corduroy. A few icy spots on some uphill sections...still skiable. Only did a few loops of the 10k trail. Classic skiers were indicating the tracks were icy and difficult. Thanks groomers (from a skate skier)!

Not sure if it is due to the hosting of Badger State Games or the thaws and re-freezes but the classic tracks are almost all ice and the base appears too thin for groomers to do much about it. Also, the signage is poor but the scenery is beautiful! Skating would work better.

Freshly groomed after the Badger State Games yesterday and the groomers did the absolute best with what they have. Icy, thin and with some tree debris in spots but still very skiable. The 10k loop had the most snow and a fair amount of folks were out enjoying the morning. Recommend "B" skis for the thin spots and debris but race skis would have worked.

Secondhand Scheduling [ Trails: Closed ]
|
Heads up- According to the web site, Nine Mile Trails are closed to the public today and Saturday for the Badger State Games. Snowless suffering southern skiers such as myself will have to search elsewhere for a ski.

Wow! Classic skied under the lights - trails were silky smooth and fast. The fresh snow was groomed perfectly. If you haven't tried skiing at night before, this is the place to do it. Trails are well-lit, with gentle rolling terrain and are fun to ski.

Skate deck was a little slow and soft this morning, still great conditions. Classic tracks set on most of the trails. Overall good but still need to get ski'd in and set up.

Heavy wet snow dumping while we were out. Both skate and classic were predictably slow.
Grooming plans: Grooming early morning, with the firm base in place, tomorrow should be perfect.
