Several days of temps above freezing, lots of rain, and super dense fog = another good day of skiing at ABR? T'is true. I thought by now that I knew a lot about weather and snow. I thought I'd be constantly punching thru with my poles and sinking down on my skis but that hardly ever happened. I put some 12 year old hf toko paste wax on and the glide was great at first. Then things slowed down a bit. Probably the colder snow tilled to the surface started warming up - but still really enjoyable. Dirt spots have started to show but it was easy to ski around them. Cooler weather will be a welcome relief to this bizarre January Weather.

Hard to believe I was buying klister at ABR in January... should be special blue conditions. Despite rain, conditions still good and base holding up.

I skied abr yesterday morning and then again this morning and it was really good. Very firm skate deck but of course no ice with the temperature hitting 40 degrees. Off and on mist but mostly dry this morning so it was very pleasant. Used my classic o's and kicked up just about everything. Glide was good but probably would have been better if I didn't have nf blue on... Making skiing this good with these conditions is another example of the incredible care and grooming by eric and his crew.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We have been skiing on all 73 km of trails this week and expect to through the weekend. The temps get warm during the day but as long as our glacier snow pack on the trails keeps the base cool at night we are OK to re-groom in the early morninh ...timing is everything.
We have both Pisten Bullies ready to head out in the morning!

Skated this morning on trails that were expertly groomed. Could not decide which was faster, the skate deck or the tracks, both were great.

Excellent conditions. Firm skate deck. Well-set classic tracks: firm sided. Trails were fast. Temps were in the upper 20s to 30 degrees. Couldn't be better. Thanks ABR!

Classic skiing today, skated yesterday. Trails are in phenomenal shape. Between the four people in my party, most of the trails were skied. Thanks ABR for a great weekend.

Skied the Sisu Ski Fest Trails from ABR Trailhead through Miners Park. ABR crew was out grooming the course and it is in excellent shape for Saturdays race, firm skate lane, smooth with no thin areas, good edging, even with cold temps skiing was fast. Tracks were set in a few areas and looked great. Should be a great day Saturday for race all be it a little cold.

The conditions for striding and skating were excellent heading out at dusk. Skied out to the new Highland warming cabin to find a toasty warm room. Wolverine and friends will be here at the SISU aid station Saturday offering warm drinks, snacks, encouraging cheers and support plus warm smiles to the 31K racers when they pass the 6.6K AND 15K marks approx. Safe racing everybody.
