Snow conditions at Giants Ridge are excellent. Spent three days skiing and it snowed much of the time, which made for slower conditions, but I'm not complaining. The staff were constantly grooming the trails during the day, so about half of the time I was skiing on untracked corduroy. Didn't see a wolf, but I had some deer charging out in front of me.

Some fresh snow and colder temps slowed it down a bit from yesterday, but still awesome. Skied Laurentian, Wynne Creek, Summit, Biwabik Spur, Oslo and then back to the top on Bronze for a descent down Gold. Finally a lift back up and then down Bronze and Summit. Followed a pair of wolf tracks on WC and my wife spooked one Saturday on her way down Bronze. It stared her down and then vanished into the woods. Outstanding pisten bully corduroy and tracks on Northern Light, Summit and Bronze this morning. The only thing that would have made the weekend better is if the peripheral trails were groomed more recently.!

The Ridge is rockin'! Afternoon ski on Laurentian, Wynne Creek, Summit, Biwabik Spur, Bronze was fantastic. Followed it up with a couple lift accessed rippers down Gold. It is blazing fast and there is plenty of snow.

Great morning ski on Cedar, Gold, Summit and Bronze. Don't bother with Oslo....The sun must have been on it yesterday and now it is rutted and frozen. I skated, but did sample some of the classic tracks. Most are pretty hard and old, but a few areas have been reset. Hoping for some fresh grooming today/tomorrow.

The Ridge is skiing great right now. Every trail has full, firm coverage. Fast snow with good edge for skating. Come get some!

Great skating at Giants Ridge today. They have groomed all trails well after the thaw. Firm flat solid deck with nice corduroy. No icy ruts. Fast.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Giants Ridge has survived the January thaw. With more than 6-8" base we are still grooming all of our trails and waiting for some fresh snow to brighten it up.

Trails were superb for both skate and classic. Perfect conditions for skin-tec waxes skis. We skied Summit, Bronze, Wynne Creek, Laurentian, Oslo, and Nothern Lites. All trails were in great shape and freshly groomed.

Firsthand: Freestyle Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Lots and lots of snow everywhere. We skied 37 kilometers, mostly on the Silver, Bronze, Summit, Wynne Creek and Laurentian. We basically followed the groomer who was doing an amazing job trying to keep up with the heavy snow. He was having a hard time making any progress because by the time he looped back for a second pass on a trail it almost looked like he hadn't groomed. He was in good spirits though and was still out there grooming when we left. Every trail was skiable for skating and you could see the classic tracks even through the new snow.

Had an extraordinary classic ski on recently tracked impeccable Gold trail -- clear skies with sun setting, 12F degrees, no wind, wonderful snow, few skiers as the multiple high school teams seem to have left for home new years eve celebrations. My wife and I have skied slope and X-c for over 50 years and today on the gold trail was a top 10.
