Skied most of the new Pepsi Challenge/Great River Energy course. Our new 25/50K course (to avoid the beaver flooding) starts on Silver, goes up Summit trail, around Biwabik Spur, onto Bronze/Summit, and then through the topside of Gold and back to the stadium area. The skate deck is improving every day with the small accumulations of snow we have received in the past few days and was pretty fantastic today. The stability of the top layer is great and the snow is still firm and fast underneath. The classic tracks are about 50 percent set for the race course and are looking great! The few icy patches that you will find where water seeped up are well marked and very easily avoidable.

Classic tracks were only found on Summit, and they were hard to find Saturday morning underneath more recent snowfalls. No grooming after about 4 inches of snowfall Sunday morning. Fantastic skate skiing down powder by taking chair and then skiing down Gold or Cedar.

We found winter! It is at Giants Ridge. We skied the whole Gold trail. It has been many years since I have done that and I had almost forgotten how much I love the Gold Trail. Almost all of it was groomed with fresh corduroy making for excellent skiing. No classic track but that really didn't matter. It was great to be on fresh snow at 18 degrees instead of the ice or slush I have been skiing on at the Marshall Trails.

After Wednesday's snow, fantastic skating conditions at Giants Ridge. Approx 40km have been machine groomed. I skated summit, Silver, and South Gold- great coverage and smooth skiing. Bronze trail also groomed for skating, but does have a few (three, to be exact!) icy patches from the melt earlier this week and not open in the downhill direction. Classic tracks are currently shallow or non-existent and none were set with latest grooming; plan to skate until the next snowfall arrives.

Classic Skied Northern Lights, Gold, Wynne Creek and Summit today, Silver Trail last night. Coverage was great last night and awesome after 1" of heavy snow today. Old classic tracks were firm again, after days of meltdown. Swix Violet with Toko yellow yielded great kick in the icy powder. Some water is pooled in limited areas. 40 K's are groomed and open. Skiing is fantastic and should get get better as we cool down to the single digits.

Skied Silver, Northern Lights, Wynne Creek, Summit, Gold and Cedar Trails on this beautiful 29 degree day in the late afternoon. The trails are meticulously groomed to absolute perfection on a base of at least 10-12 inches after all of the new snow last week. However, a bit of organic matter was being released from the forest by 20+ MPH winds. Skiing is about as good as it gets here.

Skied Monday from 10 am to 1 pm and had perfect conditions on the gold and cedar trails (freshly groomed and mostly untouched). Lots of snow and the grooming was great. Be sure to use the complimentary chair lift ride up to the upper trail head either right away or midway through your ski. The views are great.

Skied all of the trails up at the Ridge Saturday. Conditions were absolutely perfect. No melting taking place, temp was in the mid-20's all day. Looked like it has snowed about two inches on Friday. The conditions for the upcoming state meet should be perfect...along with mid temps!
