One of us did classic and one skated the Onion River Trail section - conditions for both were very good. Still plenty of snow on the trail with temperatures in the 20s at night.

Onion River Road is excellent for both classic and skate - the trail firmed up nicely last night and the groomer was out again this morning. Skating is just a little soft but glide is still good and the snow isn't breaking down. The groomer said they're continuing to groom other parts of the system as well.

Conditions: Packed powder, firm tracks and skate deck.
Who would have thought we would have such wonderful ski conditions after the meltdown? Daren, our groomer, has been creating skiers nirvana after our recent snowstorm which left a foot of snow to whip into shape. Greg used Swix EB this morning, I chose VR 40, both of our skis waxes worked perfectly. The scenery along the trails is breathtaking as the trees are sprayed with a thick coat of snow. Not all trails have been groomed as there were downed trees from the wind and water bars opened from the meltdown.

Sugarbush has a lot of snow and groomed to the end of the Onion River Road section. Classic track is good; skate deck is soft; re-groomed this afternoon and should improve overnight.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Soft slow sinking skis.
About what you would expect for 50 degrees in March. The downhills were not to be trusted as you never knew when you'd ski into a trap door and the bottom would fall out. Nice views and some big Pileated Woodpeckers escorted us along.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Slow but looking great!
Did an out and back classic ski on part of the picnic loop with fresh grooming. Much of the trail was sticky and slow, with the classic tracks glazed over in several places. It is likely that the warmer temps this afternoon will have sped up the trails. Working with an 18'base, snow should be around for a while!

Made the trip up to the Northshore from the TC to ski the epic Sugarbush system. Unfortunately, after 3 or 4 inches of fresh snow on Friday night only a portion of the system was groomed. We started skiing about 10am and ran into the groomer. The groomer hoped that people stayed off the trails for a while so it could firm. Given the areas economy is driven by tourism, it is beyond me why the trail wasn't groomed. The reason for my visit was to ski the picnic loop which wasn't groomed. I was very disappointed given the fantastic weather.

Grooming since a recent light snowfall made for excellent skating this afternoon on the Onion River Road trail. Very nice classic track as well.

We only had time for the Maple loop. A little icy in a few spots but overall very good.

Conditions: Very good. Nice cord on skate lane all around. Skied in track on most portions of the picnic loop since the end of last snowfall, with some new machine track.
Lovely day, great ski. Able to make wax last for the full 4 hour ski. Our group of 4 thought we had the Picnic Loop to ourselves, but we met another skier.
