Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good classic tracks after light snow thi morning. Nicely groomed.
Skied Homestead loop last evening and it was slow because of temperatures in 40s. This morning did Hogback loop and a nice 1/2 inch dusting covered the ice. Temperature about 20 this morning.Another great ski here.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent grooming, but the snow was fading. The groomers laid down the best classic track that I have seen all season and adapted the tracking for the conditions that were coming.
As I set out in the low- to mid-40s, things were quite good. A half hour or hour in, as the sun was heating things up, the going got slower. Downhills that were getting direct sun had some slush spots that stopped my skis (which made for some interesting runs as the shaded areas gave way to sunny spots). Better than any photo, a recording would indicate conditions: some sections of that grippy scraping from a hard/fast track suddenly followed by a more muted slurping. The car thermometer read 55 (in the sun) on returning and between 48 and 50 once the sun wasn't so direct on it. Expect the track to refirm/freeze overnight and possibly some new snow overnight to make tomorrow a rather different experience.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Freshly-groomed cord and tracks on the Oberg loop. Soft snow, with some ice tilled-in, but otherwise clean.
They received about 3" of wet snow the night before, so things were quite soft. Very pretty with lots of snow in the trees.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Predominantly packed powder with some ground up ice.
Gorgeous trails! The system was freshly groomed with the piston bully, tracks firm and the skate deck looked solid. What a pleasure to ski today! Don't put your storage wax on yet, there is more skiing here!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Freshly fallen 4". Entire system rolled with some set tracks.
Wow! Drove up from the cities for the weekend just to ski the Sugarbush. Cross-country Heaven. So much snow! So well cared for! Have to give it an 11 on a 1-10 scale. We classic skied the Picnic Loop with no set tracks... just rolled and had a gas. Ran into a skier from Norway and he said the Picnic Loop was his favorite ski - I agree. Don't give up on skiing in the cities, head up the North Shore for some awesome skiing. Well done Sugarbush!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Perfect conditions.
There is SO much snow in NE Minnesota! We skied all of the western trails in the Sugarbush system and found them to be in excellent shape. If you plant your pole even a few inches off the groomed trail it will sink down 3+ feet. So the system had a lot of snow to work with and it shows.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Cold, low single digits, bullet proof tracks, great kick and glide. Some of the best classic conditions of the year. A few soft pole plants on the woods side of the track.
Skied from Briton Peak thru Hogback, Homestead, ski thru to Oberg, around picnic loop and back. Just a wonderful day with great kick from Rode special green and great glide with fast wax LF teal. Great omen for tomorrow's race at Pincushion. Super grooming job SBTA!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good; groomed with ~1" new snow on top.
Classic skied the Picnic Loop counter clockwise on Friday. Good coverage and grooming throughout, fun hills and excellent views! The tracks were in good shape though there were lots of soft pole plants on the woods side of the trail. The skate deck was a little soft and had a fresh dusting of snow.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Fair. Trail is a bit icy following the thaw. Very difficult to get grip classic skiing. Probably skating would be better. Or wait for a bit of new snow later this week.
