Skied Columbia golf course today for the first time. I was really not impressed. There were ice spots and grass poking through all over. It seemed like the grooming crew was in too much of a hurry to roll and groom the trails that with the warm weather we had a couple of weeks back, the over packed snow melted into a good layer of pure ice. And now they probably can't break up that ice layer because it is so thin. I know some places looked wind swept but other gold courses in the area don't have the same problem. Also, I couldn't tell where the trails were at all. The trailhead was difficult to find, there were no maps and hardly any directional arrows.

Skate deck groomed this evening. Open areas are windblown, sheltered areas are OK. Cart paths are dangerous as there may be exposed pavement. Drifting snow obscures some of the trail despite grooming. No classic track.

I stopped by Columbia and spoke with one skier. The trails are challenging to discern on the course for skate and no classic tracks are set. There is adequate snow but the conditions were, in his words "challenging".

Groomed shorter first loop. Decent snow and condition. No classic yet. Far loop rough immediately crossing bridge/tracks.

Groomed the full trail this morning. Bring your rock skis, and be careful around the paved paths near the bridge. No classic tracks were set because there is only 1-2 inches of snow.

All trail segments are groomed and open! There isn't enough snow yet to set classic tracks so just the skate lane is groomed.
