Grooming Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
We received about 4 inches of new snow overnight. The main loops were groomed for skate and classic this morning and early afternoon. The trails are very soft. The NE Classic and Tony Wise have not been groomed yet and parts of the NE Classic remain closed due to drifting from previous winds - detours are posted.
Reminder: the Fat Bike Birkie is this weekend and not only bisects the NE trails but uses several kilometers of the trail system. Bikes are allowed on the trails from 10 am Friday until 3 pm when the Birkie will start grooming for the race. On Saturday the trails will be used for the race until approximately 3 pm. The NE trails are essentially out of business for skiing from 10 am Friday through Saturday afternoon. The trails will be available as usual on Sunday morning.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The Tony Wise was groomed early this morning and is in great condition. Should be great skiing today unless it gets too warm this afternoon. The short section of the classic only remains closed with a detour signed.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The NE trails have a deep base and are in very good condition despite the warm weather. Due to the heavy snow last week combined with strong winds a section of the classic only trail is closed due to drifting. That section is marked and signs for a detour are in place. The skate deck was combed out this morning but the tracks have not been reset for several days and have gone through several freeze thaw cycles. There is a window of time each day when the skiing is reported very good that is usually just as the temperatures reach the freezing point and until the trails soften up.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The North End Classic trail was groomed today and is in great shape. The skate lane on the main trail was combed out to smoothe the trail from yesterday's use. The Tony Wise which was groomed yesterday is in very good to excellent condition.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We received 2 to 3 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours. Main loop and Tony Wise both groomed for skate and classic this morning. Trails are soft and by noon the trails were seeing quite a bit of use. Reminder that the Birkie Trail and Birkie Classic Trail both intersect the North End trail system but are now closed until race day per the Birkie office.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Skied from Telemark trails to North End trail this morning Nothing like making your own tracks in 2 inches of fresh snow. Classic only trail at North End was skied in and a delight to ski. Still snowing at 4 pm. Should make for a great Kortie on Friday and Birkie on Saturday.

Firsthand: Both

Wonderful conditions for skate and classic. Plenty of snow on the skate trail to make herringbone climbs as much of a joy as they can be for a duffer like me.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The main loops and the Classic Only loop were groomed today. The skate deck is very good, the tracks are a little shallow in areas that melted yesterday. The pine cones continue to fall and litter the trail in a few places.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The main loops at the NE were groomed today and are in very good condition. The parts of the trail under pines accumulated a lot of cones today due to the windy conditions. Skiing should be great until it warms up - ski early.

On Friday had a chance to stride and skate many of the trails in the North End Trail network. The trails were freshly tracked and groomed. The Birkie, North End classic and Tony Wise trails were all in excellent shape... bundle up and have fun!
