We started at the north end cabin and when we saw that the birkie trail had not been groomed and was icy. We decided to stick to the north end trails which had been groomed and were wonderful! Thank goodness for the North End ski Club!

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The North End skate/classic trail was freshly groomed and very good except for numerous pine cones. The classic only had not been groomed yet so was hard and icy. However we ran into more than a dozen people skiing the wrong way, what's up with that?

I skated some of the North End Trails and the Birkie Trail down towards Boedecker Road and back, the trails were just groomed and tracked. There was great coverage and the trails were level with good control and just a couple of soft spots. It looked like the Cable area received about 3-4 inches of new snow, with more snow to the south. The Birkie Classic trails had plenty of snow but had not been groomed yet!

A little soft yet which was interesting as their most recent snow was early in the week. In all other respects, conditions are excellent. Flat, firm-ish base and full depth classic tracks. Not quite 'hero' snow as it's not transformed but a welcome change from the cold we've had recently.
