Skied classic and skated virtually every loop in the system this morning and yesterday and can tell you the trails are in very good condition. All you snow refugees from the Cities, come to the Gunflint Trail. "A" ski conditions.

Gunflint trails near Bearskin Lodge: Skied Summer Home Road, Moose Pasture, Ridge Run, and Beaver Dam, all Excellent! Very well groomed with 1" of beautiful new snow falling. Skate skiing was great. The Classic tracks looked deep true and were fast. For lots of great skiing, come up to the Central Gunflint trail system and bring your best skis!

Excellent skiing right now. Only a couple trails showing minor stubble remain. Base depth is averaging between 5 and 7 inches. Fresh new snow again today, more is predicted in the upcoming days. Daily grooming will continue to keep up with new snow.

Wow, on Christmas Eve, Bearskin Lodge trails were awesome. Grooming was very good! We were classic skiing. It was 22 degrees - and Grandpa Roy was off on his Peltonen skis. His daughter and granddaughter thrilled with trail conditions as well.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
48 km of trails are groomed with skate lane and classic track. Remaining 22 km are packed only until more snow is received. Minor stubble in some areas yet. A couple small sections still have a rock or two poking through. Overall, groomed trails are in good shape.

Skied the summer home road and campground trails from Bearskin. Great skiing; could definitely use good skis on the summer home portion, although it would be wise to start from the dead-end road trail jct rather than the lodge parking lot as the spur trail from the lodge still has a few thin spots here and there. Thanks Bearskin for the well-groomed trails and awesome start to the ski season!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Groomed Summer Home, Campground, and the lower section of the lit loop after receiving 5-6" of fresh snow over the last few days. B skis on the Lit loop, good skis would be fine on Summer Home.

Summer Home and Campground loop were groomed and tracked, but Sunday eve brought about an inch or so of new snow. Skiing was fine with only a few bare spots although new snow made them had to spot. I used B skate skies and waxless classic skis for a great afternoon.

Conditions: Good, but not as good as a few days ago.
Groomed Summer Home and Campground trails today. Mostly good coverage, with a few thin spots. The track on Summer Home is better than in the campground. It's good skiing, but be mindful of a couple low snow spots. We have some snow in the forecast, and it won't take much to get the trail back in great shape.
