Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skate deck groomed this morning. Lots of skiers already out in Eloise Butler and the Bog. Classic track not set across all of the course due to thinner snow conditions but overall coverage is good. B skis due to sticks, etc.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Classic skied sections south of Glenwood Ave around 3 pm. No classic tracks, appears to be too thin. For the most part good coverage, and fairly firm. Would have been more enjoyable skating. Even with the hills, felt pretty cold in the late afternoon.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Groomed Eloise Butler Trail 4:30 - 5:30pm today and had nice snow covering the ice sheet below. Should be decent to ski rock skis unless you punch through to the ice. Hills are still icy underneath and groomer was not able to pull drag up the icy hills today, so spotty grooming on the hills and above where I was not able to get to. I was not able to clear the hill up toward the bog side so did not have a chance to inspect and groom that side.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
Extremely icy conditions, some dusting of snow on top of cruddy ice. Completely unskiable in most places. Trail closed until we get a bit more snow and can cover the ice sheet.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
No grooming under these conditions. There are lots of twigs and branches down from the high winds and many bare spots from the melt. All natural snow trails are closed due to ice and many bare ground. Skiing natural snow trails NOT advised. Trails closed.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Rock skis ]
I skied the whole course from the loppet start south to the 394 bridge. Coverage is thin but the whole course is super fast and edgeable right now.

[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Super fun Christmas Eve morning ski on the South Wirth trails with rock skis! All trails were groomed just enough to provide safe and fast skating. There was a tiny amount of "glaze" on top - just enough to get some speed and firm enough not to sink into the snow. The underpass under Highway 55 had plenty of snow, the JD Rivers segment was in mostly good shape. Eloise Butler was mostly good, although the first descent has lots of debris, and the pond crossing is a bit slushy, so be careful. The Quaking Bog loop was in exceptional shape - considering the lack of snow - I would rate it the best of all the natural snow trails at Wirth right now. The connector between Quaking Bog and Eloise Butler was in fantastic shape - what a fun descent. Thanks for the gentle grooming, it was awesome out there!
