Grooming
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
No grooming under these conditions. There are lots of twigs and branches down from the high winds and many bare spots from the melt. All natural snow trails are closed due to ice and many bare ground. Skiing natural snow trails NOT advised. Trails closed.

[ Rock skis ]
I skied the whole course from the loppet start south to the 394 bridge. Coverage is thin but the whole course is super fast and edgeable right now.

Super fun Christmas Eve morning ski on the South Wirth trails with rock skis! All trails were groomed just enough to provide safe and fast skating. There was a tiny amount of "glaze" on top - just enough to get some speed and firm enough not to sink into the snow. The underpass under Highway 55 had plenty of snow, the JD Rivers segment was in mostly good shape. Eloise Butler was mostly good, although the first descent has lots of debris, and the pond crossing is a bit slushy, so be careful. The Quaking Bog loop was in exceptional shape - considering the lack of snow - I would rate it the best of all the natural snow trails at Wirth right now. The connector between Quaking Bog and Eloise Butler was in fantastic shape - what a fun descent. Thanks for the gentle grooming, it was awesome out there!

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
I skied all of the Wirth trails today. Butler and Bog were better than I expected. There were sections of dirt and leaves, but I didn't hit any rocks or asphalt and good navigate around the few patches of bare ground without issue. It was less icy than the front 9 so it was possible to get a good V1 workout on the hill climbs and not too bad on the downhills.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
All trails are getting thin and showing dirt here and there. Still good skiing though. The following have old classic tracks and refreshed skate: JD Rivers Trail, Eloise Butler Trail, Quaking Bog trail, Norm Oakvik Trail, Bridge Trail. Wirth Lake Trail is not open yet.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Started skiing at noon. Skied the entire trail system that is open as one loop and measured 23 km (excluding 394 trail to Brownie). Saw work is still being done on snowmaking loop so about half of that is open. Snow was very slow and wet. Use rock skis or B skis. About a dozen bad spots over the 23 km where there was dirt/grass showing over a medium size area and decent number of smaller spots. Saw a couple spots shoveled for pooled slush on the golf course and the curb in Butler.

Wirth Lake trail still closed - ice too slushy. Trails refreshed for skate this morning: JD Rivers Loop, Eloise Butler Trail, Quaking Bog/Norm Oakvik Trail, Bridge Trail, 394 trail, Brownie Lake trail (only to the lake and no classic). There is not enough snow to refresh classic trails daily.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed all trails from 5am to 9am. Grassy trails are great, while trails in the woods are sometimes thin in the classic tracks. Otherwise good coverage. Great skiing. Classic tracks on all trails. Skate only down by Brownie. Lakes not groomed yet, too slushy.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skied Skyline, Tornado Alley, JD Rivers, Eloise Butler, and Quaking Bog, as well as the 700m of the manmade that is open. Manmade loop remains at just 700m and some lights are out so bring a headlamp. Still some hazards (curbs, asphalt) showing in E Butler so I would not bring your best skis. The grooming on the Skyline section was pretty good if windblown but lots of human and dog tracks in JD Rivers and Eloise Butler and I ran into two sets of people walking their dogs on the trail. There needs to be more signage and trail ambassadors 'informing'people about not wrecking the groomed trails. Quaking Bog was in great shape and lots of fun.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Only Twin Lakes and a little of the snowmaking open on the north. That is in good shape with pretty good tracks. Skyline on the south side is wind blown with shallow tracks. The Loppet trail is good through Eloise Butler with good tracks. Didn't make it to the Bog, but it looked similar to Butler. Started across Wirth Lake -- DON'T DO IT. It got slushy and then the slush started to give way, so I turned around promptly.
