The south Wirth trails will not be groomed any more this season. Thanks for the great season and all the use!

Firsthand: Freestyle

All groomed, except South of Glenwood Ave.South had been gone over with snowmobile but no groomer. You could ski it but need to be skinny and fast footed, kinda scary. The rest was outstanding. I did a lot of crust skiing and it was great freedom. Stay off the tees and greens! (I'm a golf course guy).

Skated Butler and Bog blue trails Thursday afternoon. Nice groomed corduroy everywhere. Picked up a bunch or branches and speed sapping pine-cones along the way. A few more hikers and dogs out on the ski trails this week.

I was surprised to see that South Wirth has not been groomed at all since the snow on Monday. There is a lot of snow, and clearly people have been skiing, but no sign of grooming. I started the trail and then turned back to the other side of Glenwood, which is groomed.

The snowmobile-based grooming crew did a fantastic job tilling up the South Wirth trails this early morning! JD Rivers, Wirth Lake, Jar Hill, Eloise Butler, and the Bog are all in great shape all the way to 394. Lots of excellent spring skiing throughout the entire South Wirth trail system, without too much ice to worry about thanks to the quality grooming. The snow was very clean and there is very little forest debris to worry about. Just a tiny bare patch here and there, and a few small sections of ice, but all very avoidable. As a bonus, they laid down nice classic tracks wherever possible on the South Wirth trails. With the last week of highs in the 40s, it's pretty amazing how awesome the early mornings have been for skiing this week - thanks, groomers!

Our crews are out this morning rolling the fresh 4 inches of new snow we received overnight. We plan to start grooming late morning after we have finished rolling.

Excellent conditions on the JD River loop, Wirth Lake loops, and Jar Hill! The Eloise Butler loop is in very good condition, with just some forest debris (bark, leaves, etc.) that is easy to dodge. The steepest downhill in Eloise has one patch of dirt/ice, but it's easy to avoid. The Wedding Hill loop is super clean and really fun. Excellent skiing in South Wirth continues!

Skied from Wirth Beach to 394 sound wall and back. Snow adhered nicely to any ice that was present underneath, downhills super fast and fun. Able to get a decent edge on all uphills. Great job groomers!

Skied The Bog and Eloise Butler segments. Surprisingly good on the loop sections. Groomers had been out this morning, south facing hills a little hard/slightly icy and a couple small spots to make sure you don't put your ski on; and then small debris in many spots, but overall very skiable. No traditional tracks on the trails. The link along 394 however has a couple very icy spots. Thanks groomers for all your hard work - makes enjoyable days like this from all your hard work. Any snow we get will make these trails top rate pretty quickly.

Skied from the Chalet down to Eloise Bultler and the Bog and found all to be in very good condition with recent grooming (either today or yesterday). I haven't done those trails in a couple of years and wanted to get them in before warmer weather. I'm glad I did! Just a few thin spots could easily be skied around. There was some debris on the trail in the woods, but it wasn't really a problem yet. The Judy loop off the snowmaking loop was also in good shape.
