Rocket fast on the man-made loop this early morning (6:15-7:15). No icy spots, no real damage from the meltdown, excellent grooming!!

Afternoon

Sugary skate deck but pleasantly fast - groomers tilled up some cold, clean snow making for a surprisingly good ski. Sunday was about 10 degrees cooler than Saturday and a big improvement.

Conditions: Good, but getting soft.
I got out at 9am this morning and did two laps on the man-made. I attempted the Lake Loop as well but had to turn around after 100 meters due to large portions of bare spots -- not even suitable for rock skis. The man-made was getting pretty soft by the time I finished (10am), but still definitely good skiing for how much rain we got and the warm weather conditions.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Wednesday evening from about 7:30-8:30 pm. Very good. I skied Tuesday from about 3-4:20 pm and it was 'skied out.' Getting slick... so-so. The 'hill loop' option off the lake loop on the natural snow was OK. Tonight, the man-made was occasionally sugary, but I enjoy the slightly softer conditions for ski placement and not feeling like I'm banging my pole tips into ice. The groomers always do great work, just not sure why it was so nice today. I think if I'd gone to the trouble to put a hard cold wax on my skate skis my glide would have been perfect... as it was, very enjoyable skiing.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Really good! Except for in front of the chalet (a little icy there), the deck was fast and fun with enough loose stuff most places for V2 control. The big climbs were as good as they get - enough loose to prevent slipping but no deep sugar. And the big descents had enough loose stuff to snowplow if you don't feel the "need for speed". Classic was awesome with grip tape - bomber kick but the descending tracks were glare ice so plenty fast. Lake trail was not bad for skating - no dirt showing anywhere, very little ice, some wood chips/pebbles so you might not want to use your best skis there. It was already below freezing so the trail shouldn't change until the next warm up.
Don't miss Hyland when conditions are fast and fun like this. If you have klister or grip tape skis, you owe it to yourself to classic-ski conditions like this when they occur.

Conditions: Great conditions on man made - good kick with klister.
As always, great conditions on the man-made loop. Was kicking nicely with Rex special red klister. Wildlife sighting (coyote) at the base of boulder ridge.

Afternoon

Conditions: Good! Don't be afraid of the outer loops!
The man -made loops were windblown and hard, I also skied the entire outer loops (natural snow) several times and found them to be in great shape with 99.999% snow coverage and better protected from the wind - looks like some shoveling was done-thanks so much! Note: No tracks on the outer loops!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Skied Hyland late afternoon Tuesday. Skate deck was solid and hard.
Skate deck was solid with just enough to get decent push while skating. Thought boulder ridge would be an icy mess - but there was enough give to get down the hill. Only skied the man made loop.
