Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 9 to 18 of 156    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: still full coverage, but showing some wear.
The course has gotten progressively softer throughout the week. Still good overall, but some mush starting to build up on the hills, and there are frequent stretches where dirt or debris are prominent. Who can complain, though? It's great to be skiing in March.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good, but a little icy.
My skis were scraping hard, crusty snow through the thin layer of sugar on the steeper uphills. Most of the downhills were a little icy with some ruts, but still very manageable. The flats and gradual uphills were great. Overall, the snow was very fast.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: A little softer than yesterday, but still great.
Starting to see a slight layer of sugary mush over the otherwise solid base. Not enough to slow things down, and actually a little more confidence inspiring on the Boulder downhill.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent! Firm corduroy with minimal dirt.
Trails were in near perfect condition today, fast classic tracks and firm skate deck with minimal dirt. A+ . Unbelievably good considering how dirty and slushy the trail got on Saturday afternoon after the thaw. Klister was the ticket today for grip. Get out and enjoy it before its gone!

Hard-packed but very nice spring skate or classic skiing. Classic tracks in suprising great shape. Two plus feet of beautiful snow on the 5K man-made loop. Get out for some sweet Spring skiing. Thanks for the excellent grooming Three Rivers groomers! Could not have skied so much this el nino winter without you!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent for classic.
The classic tracks were outstanding late afternoon Tuesday. With temps in the mid 20's, the tracks were glazed and fast. Solid kick and nice glide on klister with cover wax. Riding the rails downhill was a blast. Many thanks to the groomers for keeping the season going!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Fast, fantastic.
Beautiful, fast conditions on the man-made loop. Skated from about 11am-12:30 pm. Snow was a perfect corduroy with no ruts or ice. Downhills in great shape. Whatever kind of magic the groomers are using to repeatedly bring the trail back to life is working. Still a thick layer of snow built up as well.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Great shape for both skate and classic.
No hint of icy or hard packed conditions anywhere. Roy Carlstad was out enjoying a mid-day ski. Winter's not over 'til Roy says so.
