Skied all of King, Grimm, and lake this morning. Very fast and icy conditions with mostly good coverage. Some bare spots starting to show on some uphills and open field areas.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied the whole system and finished before it warmed up too much. Lake and King trails were scratched by the groomer, but still packed and icy. Some dirt/grass patches here and there, easily avoided. Grimm and Nature Center trails were good, smooth fresh groomed deck and very little ice. The classic tracks were not so good, frequent dirt spots and debris.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
I was one of the few people out there about noon. Classic trails were in good condition. There were a few spots with a little grass showing through. Somewhat wind blown on the Grimm trail. What a beautiful day to be out for my first ski of the season and at a different park other than Hyland. The skate deck looked great.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Conditions have deteriorated a lot since earlier this week. Rock ski conditions on all trails due to sporadic thin spots.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Sugar Bush, Sky and Lake are the firmest and widest trails so far. The wooded sections have 100% coverage, but some dirt is poking through in the open areas where the prairie was restored this fall. When I drove through the park this morning on Victoria Drive, the Nature Center trail appeared to be groomed two passes wide now.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Variable, but much better than I expected. Sugar Bush, Sky and Lake are the the firmest. Sugar Bush has good coverage whereas sky and lake have a few thin spots. B skis for these. There's some nasty looking ice towards the end of of these loops. Grimm, King and the Nature center spur were pretty soft and had some thinner spots, but skill skied surprisingly well. Rock skis for these. No classic tracks.

No classic grooming. All trails open. Some rocks and dirt on Grimm, especially down by lake. Cold but inspiring.
