The trails are holding up surprisingly well for the warm temperatures. The cloudy day helped keep the tracks in relatively good shape and they could stay this way for a couple of days. The trails we're a bit soft and slow but maintaining good coverage. A few slick and icy spots but easily avoidable. Skied trails around the chalet.

I skied around 8:30 this morning. Did the yellow and orange loops on the east side, as well as portions of green/brown. They were decent, but lots of ruts in some sections and multiple icy areas. (Didn't appear to have been groomed last night or this morning) Talked with someone who'd skied the whole outer loop on the east side and he said it was icy. I then did the red loop on the west side and that was quite nice. There were few icy patches on some sun-exposed areas, but overall good conditions, and definitely better than the east side. Get out there and enjoy some lovely March skiing!

Lake Elmo Park reserve is absolutely in fantastic shape. Skied the entire trail system today after it has been rolled and classic tracks set. Actually the best game of the year! Hats off to all the groomers at Lake Elmo!

Another great ski at Lake Elmo! Groomers on the skate deck looked to be out already by the time I got there around 10:30am. Classic tracks looked good enough. Roughed up in some spots, but mostly still well set. Obviously flat ice on sunny spots but overall the whole park still in excellent condition for a late season skate! Enjoy!

East side trails were in fair to good shape. Heavily trafficed, hard pack with ice in spots. 30 degrees and sunny at 5:00. I used FastWax Salmon LF. Skied Eagle Point Wednesday night and was surprised that, unlike last week, it was midwinter skiing. North end in particular was dry, cold snow and consequently slow. Sped up on the sun-exposed south side. Still had to struggle to complete in about 34 minutes. Should have skied it today because the grooming was excellent. I could get an edge okay skiing the hard pack on the east side today but it was still high effort for me. 100% coverage although there a big trough of ice chunks after you clear the big hill on Brown's Pond. There's a good stretch of ice as you turn the corner and head north after that. The remainder of Brown's Pond, Lake Elmo and Bur Oak (except a little ice on the short climb after the causeway) were in the best shape. I did the perimeter in 46 minutes at a 6.1 mph rate.

Groomers groomed skate deck and were able to set track this morning. Skiers report classic tracks are pretty good.

Great day to ski classic at Lake Elmo! Classic tracks set this morning, shallow in a few places, snow is fast. Only one spot with icy snow and that area is flat. It's time out there while we still have snow!

Skate skied the whole East side of the trail system around 10:30am. Groomers were making the rounds. Obviously a little slow from the warmth, but a good base and overall, an awesome ski! Bet they'll be even better early tomorrow after a cold night. Classic tracks hadn't been set but a few people out classic skiing on the skate deck. Hey, we'll take what we can get in March! Great day on the trails!

Skied the east side trails today. Newly groomed; firm and damp but not wet. Reasonable glide but no classic tracks. In some spots I could hear the trail groan as it compressed under my weight, in some spots my pole caught due the heavy damp snow. Since the snow was so sticky it was hard to get an edge and on some of the downhills there were ruts. There was full coverage, three slushy spots easily avoided and a couple of icy spots where the trail was exposed to the wind. All in all, the trail was in great shape; skintecs worked great.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Groomers are currently working on the east side ski trails. The trails are in less than ideal shape. There are patches of ice, very wet slushy portions, and due to the high winds there is also brush on the trails. The groomers are unable to re-set track. They are skiable but use caution.
