Pond loop was in excellent condition early this morning with snow guns blazing in the background. By 9 am the hills were starting to get sugary. Hopefully more trails will open soon. Great morning for a ski, thanks groomers!

Skied this morning, found it very icy. Hills were somewhat good, soft and not too icy. The flats were pretty icy. No kick on classic (You might be good on skins) Skate skiing was tough with the ice but double poling is good.

The crew at BC has done it again! It was around 53 degrees when I arrived at 3:30 pm with a plan B in the form of running shoes. To my delight, the pond loop was awesome! Sure it was a bit mushy on the climbs but a steady stampede of high schoolers kept it loose and not too rutty. The flats had some loose snow too but overall fun. The machine snow and grooming must make for good drainage because it was definitely wetter snow but it was fast and not creating the dreaded suction cup skis. There was a bit more practice area open on the east side too ( by the Piston Bully garage). Thank you groomers! I think you got us through the worst of the December heat wave!

It was packed at Battle Creek today, but great to get out with the school team! Was very pleasantly surprised at the state of the trails with so many skiers using them.

Stop 2 of 4: Hit the Battle Creek snowmaking loop around 8:30 am. Short loop around the pond, but saw the staff pushing out snow on the other loops. Nice classic tracks and good skate deck. About a dozen folks out. Plenty of snow on the open loop and the new timing shack looks great.

Due to warmer temps, skate deck seemed a little softer. A fair amount of skiers, but didn't feel crowded, plenty of room to maneuver about. Clocked 0.57 miles around with the extender on west side. Enjoyed.

Beautiful morning to be out. Conditions were good; excellent base set down; stadium leveling improving with more passes. 0.6k for the loop, but you can add another 0.3k doing an out and back loop on the west side of the stadium. Felt crowded when a team moved around the loop as a group, but otherwise felt pretty comfortable given that the parking lot was 3/4 full for a time.

Skated. Lots of skiers out enjoying the short manufactured snow loop. Couple short hills in loop for practicing uphill technique. Classic tracks looked good.

Incredible conditions here at Battle Creek! Nice wide course, double classic tracks, and two nice little hills makes for a great ski outing. Hard to believe it's only 0.6K - it feels much more spread out. Nice work, Battle Creek trails crew!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
The Stadium area is now open for use. Grooming and snow making will continue as long as we have adequate temperatures. I can't believe i am saying this but we could use some more cold! Enjoy.
