Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Good coverage on Ski Games trail. Rolled, with skier-only made tracks. Nice to be on the fresh snow, with sunshine.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Nature and the groomers have worked worked a small amount of snow to make a decent skate ski surface. The snow depth is insufficient for the course to be completely flat. Classical tracks have not been set -- the snow is not deep enough. Still, with the bright sunshine today, it was a beautiful ski.

From the parking lot it looks pretty bleak. But go about 200 yards down the trail and it improves greatly. Good snow cover, with a little caution could use good skis. All trails--including beginner's on ballfield and Ski Games across the road--resurfaced Saturday morning.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Groomed all of the trails except Ski Games side and skate deck looks quite good for skate. Classic is good also but not deep enough to set track. The first 200 meters from parking lot are quite bad thus the B skis. (Some patches of ice showing) but quite good snow especially in woods. Be careful skating up hills as some ice under new snow.

Skied all of the loops including the trails across Battle Creek Road. Most of the trails had excellent coverage, and the warm weather softened up the snow a little bit, providing a great edge!

Wish I had chosen a different trail system today. There is decent coverage but it is very hard packed and rutted. V1 on uphills was fine but I couldn't get any rhythm on flats and much control on downhills so it wasn't very fun. Golf course trails in St. Paul were much better this week.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied Late afternoon, just did the Silver Loop and found it surprisingly good. There are a couple of bad spot but no problem stepping around them. Trail is skied in nicely allowing for a good skate edge. Some skied in tracks.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
As much as I like to ski at Wirth and Hyland, Battle Creek was a great change of pace. The trails have better coverage than I would have thought. A little classic track here and there. It looked to be very skateable. The snow is thin but I only saw wood chips in a few spots. All of the downhills are in good shape. I used B skis and doubt I picked up any new dings. I wish the trail runners would give it a break and not run out here when the track is groomed.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
We put a short loop on the ball field today to take advantage of some untouched snow. Dead flat and only fair. There is a classic track off to the side but some debris in the tracks.

Afternoon

[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skated the lighted loop and eastern part of the woods. Deck was firm with some edge. Coverage was surprisingly good given the lack of snow, thanks to the groomers. There were occasional thin spots to watch for, but easy to navigate around. A few others were out enjoying the trails too. Fun ski.
