Surprisingly good conditions on the skyline loop, a little icy and thin on southerly facing slopes but even there not bad. Most of the trail was freshly rolled and skied well. Word was the southern wirth trails were also being groomed, so I expect it would be similar there. The manmade loops were in great shape.

Great conditions on the man made loop Tuesday night. Judy had shallow tracks for about half the time and one big icy spot on a downhill. Twin lake and green meadow were in great shape.

Perfect conditions and fresh grooming this morning on the 7.5K snowmaking loop! Solid skate deck and double classic tracks in many areas. No ice, plenty of snow depth everywhere, safe to use very best skis. Should be a great week for skiing at Wirth!

Skied the full loop on the north side of the road again several times. Having temperature appropriate wax this time helped. It was a bit softer than Saturday afternoon, and there was a lot more debris in the trail. I think the wind shook a lot of leaves loose, and all of the trail crossings left some extra stuff in the snow. The hills and turns were easily manageable for just about any level though, with no icy spots and no real effect from the snowplowing. The Judy section was still in great shape (slightly less great than Saturday), though again, I'm fine using my best skis since they aren't new but I might not use brand new skis on the Judy section.

Skied the snow-making loop early afternoon and it was very good for skating. Classic tracks looked good except they weren't in place on some of the downhills. Then I did the rest of the natural snow trails -- Front 9 down to JD Gardens and Jar Hill -- they still had good coverage and generally good conditions with some softness and some firmer areas. The snowmobile groomer made a pass on the main trail artery while I was out. Tracks in these sections not set as well as the snow-making loop but still pretty good. Saw more folks out on the natural snow trails than the main loop. Get out and enjoy before Wednesday's predicted warmup.

Skied the full loop on the north side of the road a couple times. The trails were great, were solid (well-packed) and did not have many questionable spots. They were fine for my skis, but I probably wouldn't have used a new pair on the Judy section if that's all I had. I was impressed that even the spot between the willows at the bottom of the long hill had good coverage. The snow was a little slow for my skis since they still had arctic wax on, but it was a very enjoyable ski.

I was excited to ski this gem in the middle of the city and so very close to home. I skied the natural classic trails and found them fairly well snow covered with some bare and icy spots, but tolerable. All classic trails from the clubhouse, across the lake to the island and back to the clubhouse were in extreme need of grooming. The inside track on Wirth Lake to the island and back was almost completely obliterated by skate marks, despite the fact that there is a whole lake on which to skate without coming near the classic track. Lots of inexperienced classic skiers out bundled in heavy parkas and snow pants.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Hey all!! The man-made snow (Hap Lutter and Twin lake trails) were groomed Thursday night and will be again overnight tonight! The conditions are great and the cold weather has been helping keep them awesome! We make it a habit to start grooming at 10pm unless there is snow in the forecast overnight.
Apologies for the lower stadium not being lit along with the entrance to Hap trail. We had issues with the underground power going bad a couple weeks ago and have been trying our best to get it resolved.
The natural snow trails in North Wirth (Judy, bridge trail, skyline, and tornado alley) were groomed this morning and will be again tomorrow morning. Natural snow trails we try to groom everyday in the morning starting at 7 as long as there's no snow in the day.
All trails are groomed for both skate and classic and are in great condition.

Race-ready! I did a dress rehearsal of the whole Loppet race course this afternoon between noon and 3:30 (except Bde Maka Ska which wasn't groomed yet). Starting at the Trailhead, all of the snowmaking loop (7.5K) is in perfect shape as usual. I ventured out to the Judy Loop for the first time of the season and although it looks icy at first, it has been very carefully de-iced with gentle grooming and is in great shape. The extension loops for the Masters World Cup are also in great shape - and the downhill hairpin turn at the bottom of the sledding hill is not icy at all. The Bridge Trail was surprisingly not icy or rutted, making for an easy transition to the wooden bridge over the parkway. The Front 9 (Skyline Trail) is also in amazingly good shape considering our lack of snow. The groomers used nice gentle equipment to keep a clean base of snow. Tornado Alley was in the best shape I've ever seen - wide, clean, and perfect corduroy. Plenty of snow under the Highway 55 bridge, and not icy at all. Classic tracks are best in the man-made loops. See Part 2 of my review under Theo Wirth South trails for the next segment.

Excellent coverage with the woodland curve and the previously icy section of the Judy Loop (from the Classic Loppet last weekend) having a fresh layer of snow to turn on. The snow is super squeaky and slow so take all necessary preparations for Sunday morning.
