Excellent! Outstanding! Firm deck, fast snow, clean tracks. The heated washroom with bench is so sweet! Thank you, Don! Kudos to Vilas County for such a great trail!

It's awesome, Baby! Many thanks to Don and the Vilas Forestry Dept., for removing that tree that fell on the longest loop, last week. Taking those five inches, and grooming things up, conditions are beyond excellent! Cold, hard, fast, deep. 'Nuff said. Big party in the park in Conover this Saturday, they put on a great show, and no, there's no ski race to get in your way. If you are getting ready for the Birkie, may I suggest a double back loop on the South trails? Two times up the "big climb" on the Bobcat trail will get you ready for Seeley, for sure!

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All damage from the horse travel and downed trees has been taken care of. The classic tracks are deep and very firm. The skate deck is set up well and firm all the way around. There is scattered tree debris from the gusty winds last week. Grooming plans: I'll be out tomorrow morning to touch all trails up for the weekend. Note: Conover is hosting Blizzard Blast in the park (Trailhead) this weekend, Feb 15-16. The trail system is accessible and be aware of the horse drawn sleigh ride that does cross the trail just before the snowmobile trail. Enjoy the trails and have a beverage/sandwich and help support the local volunteer fire departments!

The deck is firm and deep. The winds blew a Fir tree over the trail, and the county forester thinks they will be too busy to fix it, until Monday. Here's an idea--the entire South loop system is great, so start out on the Bear, the North loop, and cut over to the south, at either "crossover", and you'll have great skiing, and plenty of it.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails have a beautiful comb and nice deep tracks. We have very nice coverage on the entire trail system. I had been out Monday and today doing my best to repair damage from a very inconsiderate equestrian rider. All holes have been filled in. Grooming plans: Trails won't be groomed again until Monday morning.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
With the recent snow, all trails have been leveled and a fresh, deep track set. The skate deck is beautiful and should set up for excellent conditions. Grooming plans: I'll be out on Wednesday morning to touch things up. Enjoy the best conditions we've had.

Went out this morning and groomed/set track on all trails. A few dirt spots and occasional oak leaf debris, but overall very nice conditions.

Skate deck was soft, uneven, and not recently groomed. Some thin spots under trees. Lots of leaf debris due to wind. My fault for not checking first.

20 km of exceptionally good track, today, right after a grooming. With the southerly wind blocked by "the Hill", conditions were... exceptional. Don't let the rolled only feeder trail from the parking lot confuse you--as soon as you cross the snowmobile trail, you will be in heaven, skating or classical! There are a couple of small turf spots, but overall, this is the best the sport has, right now, in Northern Wisconsin. See you on the trail. Enjoy! And to Don, at the Vilas County Forestry dept: I didn't know YOU were grooming the Pioneer Creek Trail. Thank You!
