Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

Good amount of snow and all trails are well groomed. I know because I skied just about all of them today. Place to go in northern WI.

Mint conditions for classic and skate. Super fun skating on the newly groomed fresh snow - plenty of coverage so race skis are totally safe. All of the trails are groomed and skiing really great.

These may be some of the best trails I've ever been on. They have a definite old school vibe to them, especially the trails we took. We classic skied Deer Path and Sugar Bush plus some of the connector trails. All were groomed to perfection. We did not skate, but the skate surface looked just as good. Well over a foot of snow.

Classic skied 41 km of phenomenal hill climbs and controlled downhill glides today. I'm a little sore, that was my longest of the season yet, but great conditions for it! Cold lake effect snow so glide wasn't great. Mostly a kick, kick kick ski. Freshly groomed conditions, deep tracks semi firm skate deck. The best Birkie trainer I've had yet this season! So thankful for the Ashwabay grooming crew. I will be back!

Skied most of the system. 1-2" of fresh powder over the top of the skate deck. Slow going, but fantastic coverage and beautiful scenery. Safely good ski conditions on all trails.

Classic skied 21.3 miles of Ashwabay hill climbs this afternoon. Phenomenal doesn't even describe these conditions! Glide was epic with swix green and hill climbs hill ample kick. Tracks were medium depth, firm. Skate deck is firm with a little give. Just a Birkie trainer I needed. Thank you groomers!

Good fast tracks and a firm skate deck, a little leaf litter in the tracks but the trails weathered the warm weather today and were in good condition heading into the weekend.
