New Reports Report Requests

Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skied the outer loop - Abbey Road, Northern Lights, Seagull, and The Buzz. Most were in excellent condition. As noted elsewhere, The Buzz has some leaves in a couple spots, and a few places with dirt spots. These are up on the hilltop. All can be carefully skied around. Be careful about rocks, though, as you approach the parking area at the end of The Buzz. That's why I'm suggesting B skis.

[ Good skis ]
All fresh corduroy and I only saw the occasional tree debris. Seriously some of the best skiing in a long while. The downhill run on seagull to the anchor intersection is phenomenally fun! I'm rating it a cautious good skis. I had my B skis because I didn't think it would be as good as it was. I would have switched to my good skis but I didn't want to go back to the car.

Skate trails Anchor, Abbey and Big Loop groomed again this morning. Good skate skiing. But Buzz skate is still very rough with dirt exposed and Buzz classic is nearly nonresistant.

I skied up Anchor, which was newly beautifully groomed. Then up the steep Seagull hill, which had been the day before and had a new dusting of snow on it. Both were great. Then I skied Seagull out to the top of the Alpine area. Then skied back and down northern lights to the cabin, then back up to Anchor and across to the start again. Everything was fantastic. There were a few areas with debris and a couple bald spots. I don't think I would've damaged my good skis, but I'm glad I used B skis.

I skate skied the big loop (Abbey Road to Northern Lights to the Buzz). It was great. Not perfect, but excellent. Then I skied Anchor and it was even better! Thanks groomers! This is the most beautiful trail system in the upper Midwest I've skied, and now they have a Pisten Bully to make it perfect, even when there is not much snow.

The light grooming on Abbey Road, Anchor and the Big Loop made all the difference in the world with this light snow cover! Beautiful ski today. Thank you groomers!

Skate trails on Abbey, Anchor and the Big Loop were lightly groomed this morning. Waiting for more snow to refresh classic trails, but they are all still skiable.

Grooming

Abbey and Anchor skate trails were groomed late Sunday. Jolly and Buzz have a few bare spots that can be skied around. Seagull, Northern Lights, Roller Coaster and Beginners Loop are all good. Classic on Abbey has some icy spots and a spattering of oak leaves. Still lots of good skiing, how lucky we are!
