Huge kudos to the grooming crew; they've done a lot with our limited snow accumulation. Trails have good coverage, though thin in spots and still a bit bumpy. Classic tracks holding up well. Definitely recommend a klister base. Skating was solidly good. Do be on the look out for debris on the skate deck and in the classic tracks, mainly where the tree canopy is thickest. Between the two of us, we skied nearly all of the loop segments.

I hit the trails for some classic skiing on a nice chilly morning. The base was very thin with much debris sticking through. I started off on Sally's, the classic track, and found the tracks very poor. This was entirely due to the lack of snow. I don't recommend trying this loop until we get a lot more snow. The other, dual use, trails were better, but still rather poor. My recommendations are to only skate ski here, for now. Big bonus was seeing wolf tracks in several places and what I think was some big cat tracks.

My first time out for the season...finally. After Hours had enough to snow to have both their classic and skate trails open, and as far as I could tell, everything was open. I skied the Aspen and Oak trails. It was cold but no wind, and the snow was crunchy and fast. It was a good first day. The trails themselves were completely covered but the snow is not deep and there are spots where grass is poking through and debris comes to the surface. There was no where I had to ski around or click out on the Aspen or Oak trails. There was only one set of tracks in front of me, and saw only one person on the trails around 8am. The only other thing sharing the trails was a wolf, as indicated by the (huge) fresh wolf prints on most of the Oak trail.

All trails were groomed today including the classic trail and fat bike trail. The 2" of fresh snow helped a lot but there are still thin spots. Track was set on 80% of the classic trail and select places on the other trails. Expected a thin base in places and some debris. Be prepared to jump out of the track occasionally.

I skated 25k in a fresh 1/2" of snow. Unfortunately Brule didn't get the snow that was predicted. Most of the trail has a 1-3" solid base but the grass is still poking through under the pine trees. The gates are still up to prevent vehicles from entering the trails but the gates are easy to ski under/around. Maple, Oak, Aspen, River, Spruce and Balsam were groomed last Sunday. Expect a firm but wavy deck, thin spots and an occasional rock poking through. No tracks yet.

When I skied them Saturday morning, I went maple to oak to white pine and red pine and river and out and about everywhere. No issues gliding along with my rock skis. A bit of powder on top of the rolled. Debris out but it was wonderful. Thanks for the early rolling!

Skied both Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Would have suggested B skis yesterday, but with the 2-3 inches of fresh powder the trails have good coverage. Skied Maple, Balsam, Spruce, River and Aspen. Deck is wavy and uneven but not bad for mid December! Thank you groomers for clearing the trails and getting them rolled.

The 2" of fresh snow complimented the rolling and clean up we did on Tuesday. JT and I skated 14K and picked up most of the new sticks. Don't ski on South or East loop since vehicles are still driving on these township roads and have exposed some gravel. No tracks yet, expect a soft and wavy deck in places with some thin spots. Not too bad for December 5th.

All trails were rolled and cleared today except the classic only trail. Gary Mattson and I removed all downed trees and picked up most of the sticks and branches. The base is thin so expect some rocks and grass poking through if you venture out.
