Trail conditions were fair on the east side trails at my 3:30 start. There was a fair amount of generally avoidable snert. Snow was soft with some "soft" rutting that was easily skated thru. Skate deck was occassionally uneven or roller coaster-like in spots. Hopefully will set after being rolled again. It was low 20's with sun just breaking out as dusk approached. Skier traffic was light after Kids League ended for the day.

The man made loop is absolutely perfect this morning. Nice deep tracks. Nice skate deck. New snow was a bit staticy. Natural trails were rolled and there were a handful of people braving them. They looked thin but skiable.

The snowmaking loop was in good condition at my 3:00 pm start. Only thing detracting from a better rating was one inch of new snow that slowed me, cutting my usual pace by 15 to 20%. Snow itself was fast but the resistance pushing through it on the climbs was simply too much for me to overcome. It was in the low 20's. At least I got to experience seeing the snow flow through the holes in the shovels of my Fisher RCS skis as I skated. Skier traffic was predictably light with the unusual phenomena of classic skiers outnumbering skaters, who were either trying to miss the snow-storm-slowed car traffic or the same on the ski trail.

I skied late morning and it looks like everyone (like me) skipped the early skiing because of the cold. Everything looked like it had just been groomed with firm and fast snow. The classic tracks were perfect with no ice in the bottom.

With new snow, skate deck stable for skate skiing, but slow with cold temps. Classic track in good shape. Enjoyed classic today.

Skied the manufactured trails. Classic tracks excellent, solid and deep, and good for kicking. Skate deck concrete hard from cold temps and slippery, difficult to balance on and keep on top of your skis while V2ing.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Skied the natural snow trails at Hyland today including the Lake Loop and the trail to the nature center. Extremely thin, lots of grass poking up, hit gravel and sidewalk at end of Lake Loop. Downhills treacherous. I should've turned around too when I started out on the lake loop and was someone else skiing backwards. Nature center trail out to the walking bridge was slightly better. Stick to the man-made, sadly.

[ Good skis ]
Gorgeous late morning, 10° with full sun. The snowmaking loop skate deck was a bit slow in spots because of the new snow and low overnight temps, but it started to soften just a bit as the sun and skiers went to work on it. Lots of people out enjoying these glorious conditions. All praise to the grooming staff.

Observation
[ Trails Open: Most ]
While on the man made classic tracks was looking at the natural snow trails. They have been rolled but looks pretty thin. I'd say B skis at best probably better to use rock skis. Grass and dirt are observable.
