Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 11 to 20 of 21    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent but slow with fresh snow.
First time at this great trail system. It looked like all the trails were groomed this morning, including setting tracks, but by the afternoon there was 2+ inches of fresh fluffy snow on top slowing it down. Wonderful deep base of packed snow, not the ice we have down south. Well worth the drive.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Awesome, skate deck was a good foot thick, perfectly groomed, no debris.
One of the top places to ski ever, must do. 30 plus inches in the woods. A joy to ski especially the lower Nara trails section.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent. A bit soft but very deep base.
Groomed early this morning, so the new 2-3 inches of new snow on top isn't a problem. More snow in the forecast this weekend.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Solid, fast classic tracks, usually set best of line in preparation for Sunday's racing.
Skied late morning. Very busy with skiers getting in final workouts and testing skis. Beautiful sunny morning, temps in the mid 20s. Tracks were fast but not icy - really nice.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Very good. Many volunteers did a wonderful job getting the course ready for Nationals. A few trails closed and others rerouted for the race, but good conditions. Not icy.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good on Core, Portage, Pine, Oak and Birch which we skated. There is still a little early season waviness to the skate lanes and the tracks were cut to about 2/3 optimal depth. There were just two splotches of icy chunks, hardly noticeable. No rocks and no stubble and no dirt.
Nationals start on the Jan 3rd, so check for what will be open, fenced and/or skiable for the week starting Saturday.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
On Saturday, 60 volunteers cleared debris off the trail, left after 50mph winds. Then it snowed six inches and the trails are in very good shape.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent. All trails groomed and tracked. About an inch of fresh snow fell early Monday morning on top of a very firm base.
There were very, very few minor icy spots in the tracks, and a few marginally uneven sections on the skate deck. Overall, awesome.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Fantastic, full coverage, stable base, plenty of snow.
Skied all the upper trails Saturday, and they were fantastic. The westerly winds delivered over a foot of lake effect until Saturday morning, the groomers kept working the snow and squeezed the air out of it.
