Grooming Scheduling

The trails have now re-opened. However, the forest has only received about an inch of new snow over the weekend, and staff have done no recent grooming. Trail conditions are icy, and skiers are advised to use caution. There is a possibility of more snow Monday into Tuesday, and staff may be able to do some grooming Tuesday morning.

Conditions: Trails closed. Recent warm temperatures have made the skiing surface extremely soft. Use of the trail at this time will create deep grooves, which will be difficult for groomers to remove once temperatures return to freezing.
We expect with the colder temps coming this weekend that the trails will be open again on Sunday, if the rain and warm temps don't destroy them. No grooming to be done this weekend.

Conditions: Yellow - moderate debris with some hill sections getting thin, but much of trail still very good. Red - very good with some debris on hills.
Many thanks to groomers at Zillmer and Greenbush for their efforts.

Conditions: Good to very good for classic.
Tracks were in really good shape this Tuesday morning, except for the first half of the yellow trail, which had some dirt / grass patches. I did pick up a lot of debris in my kick wax, probably mostly from the yellow and brown trails... green / red were cleaner. By 1:00, the sun was softening the snow, so it may be slick on Wednesday.

Most of the trails at Zillmer are in good to very good condition. The skate track was fast and firm, but due to some impeccable grooming, it was smooth and safe. The first half of yellow has considerable rocks/debris/leaf litter and I would rate that portion only as fair. The back half of yellow, and red, green, and brown are all very in very good condition for skating. The classic track had some portions which were glazed over but the vast majority looked good.

Conditions: Classic skied red and yellow loops today. Conditions were good except a few slightly icy spots and a few spots with debris.
Very well groomed trails and excellent trail mapping. If you're comparing to Lapham, the Red loop here was rated with the blue level of difficulty, but it was much easier than the blue level at Lapham. Same goes for the yellow loop at Zillmer which was easier than the black level at Lapham.

Conditions: Excellent-tracks are fast and firm, skate deck was great. Classic skied the red, green and brown loops, and from what I saw of the outer loop it was also in great shape.
Thoughtful grooming makes the difference! Leaving the tracks as they are was a good call, as they really can't be improved upon. Thanks to the groomers.

The skating lanes on all loops were groomed this morning. The classic track was left as is. Conditions are very good overall. Some thin spots on the ridge on the east side of the yellow loop.

Conditions: Great conditions.
Monday's heavy snow and the groomer's wonderful effort have the trail in mid-season shape, 100% groomed for classic and skate. No need for "rock" skis.
